Chilling
About Chilling

An exciting drive from Leh, following the magnificent Indus and Zanskar rivers, leads to Chilling Village which is one of the biggest villages (with about 30 families) in Hemis National Park. This beautiful village lies at the beginning of the Markha valley trekking route, and has several hikers pass through on their advanced journey. It is the only village in Ladakh that has provided metal works such as copper, silver , iron, tin and bronze to the Leh market through the centuries.

Location

Chilling is at a distance of 66 kms from Leh. A bus plies between Leh and Chilling every Wednesday and Sunday. The ride gets bumpy towards the latter part of the trip, once you cross the Zanskar/Indus convergence.

Getting in to Leh

By Air- Direct flights from New Delhi to Leh fly all year long.
By Road- Leh has good connectivity with Manali (473 KMs) and Srinagar (434 KMs). Roads are open only till October and it takes about 2 days for a one-way journey.
