Kohima Tour

14 Days / 13 Nights

(Guwahati - Kaziranga National Park - Kohima - Touphema - Kohima - Dimori Cove - Kohima - Khonoma - Kohima - Dimapur - Sibsagar - Jorhat - Shillong - Guwahati)

 

Day 01: Guwahati (Arrival)
After a brief welcome ceremony on arrival at Guwahati drive on and check into your hotel room. Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Day 02: Guwahati - Kaziranga National Park

After an early breakfast drive to famous Kaziranga National park (220 kms 4 hrs drive). Check into a Jungle resort on arrival. In the afternoon visit nearby Tea Estate and Tea Tribes village. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 03: Kaziranga National Park

Early morning explore central Range of Kaziranga National Park on Elephant or Jeep Safari. Return for lunch and proceed to Western Range of Kaziranga National Park. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 04: Kaziranga National Park - Kohima - Touphema (about 266 kms)

Depart for Kohima after breakfast. On arrival proceed to Touphema Village Resort run by Angami Naga village community. Enjoy cultural presentation by village folks. Overnight at Touphema Tourist village.

Day 05: Touphema - Kohima - Dimori Cove - Kohima

Explore the village in the morning hours. After breakfast check out of the village resort and drive to Kohima. Visit the World War II Cemetery, nestled in the heart of Kohima town, where one of the fiercest battles was fought. On a huge stone in in-laid bronze the following famous words remind one of the undoubting courage displayed by the war heroes in order to preserve the freedom of the future generation. "When you go home Tell them of us and say For your Tomorrow We gave our today". Also visit The State Museum, located at Bayani hill Kohima, it gives you a peep into the various aspects of Naga Culture. Artifacts, handlooms, Handicrafts, Tools and Implements, Gems and Jewellery, Coins and ancient weaponry will give you an idea of the rich culture and heritage of the native people. Proceed to Kepfiizha (Kigwema village) Dimori Cove Guest house for lunch. This small but beautiful place is on the Kohima Imphal Highway which is used as base for trekking up the Japfu Peak (3048 metre) Mt. Japfu, home of the world's tallest rhododendron tree (20 metres high) and also for trekking to Dzukou, the best trekking valley of North-East India. After lunch visit nearby Angami village of Jakhama. Return to Kohima and check into your hotel. Overnight stay at Kohima.

Day 06: Kohima - Khonoma - Kohima (about 20 kms)

Angami Tribal village and the home village of father of Naga Nationalist movement Angami Phizo. This village located on top of a hillock has a pastoral beauty of its own. This was where the last part of the Anglo Naga War was fought. Return to Kohima for overnight stay.

Day 07: Kohima - Dimapur - Sibsagar (about 225 kms)

After an early breakfast depart for Sibsagar. Visit remains of Ahom Kingdom who ruled Assam for 500 years before giving in to British. Overnight stay at Sibsagar.

Day 08: Sibsagar - Jorhat

Visit Tai Ahom Museum and the Maidams (Mummy like structures) of Ahom kings Burial grounds at Charaideo. In the afternoon drive to Jorhat, the "Tea Capital of the World". On arrival check into Raj Era Tea Estate Bunglow. Thengal Mansion, a historic ancestral house of a Tea Planter is set amidst an Asssamese village, 15 kms from Jorhat.

Day 09: Jorhat

After lunch and rest, take a walk in a nearby village to see the simplicity of their lives.

Day 10: Jorhat - Shillong (about 350 kms)

After an early morning breakfast drive to Shillong. Have Lunch en-route at Borapani Umiam Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. Overnight at Shillong.

Day 11: Shillong

Morning sightseeing at Shillong, admire the beauty of Shillong also called Scotland of the East. It is erstwhile capital of undivided Assam, present North-East and home to the Khasi Highland tribes. Visit Elephanta falls, Ward lake, Hydari Park and Shillong peak for some breathtaking views. Overnight at Shillong.

Day 12: Shillong - Guwahati (about 100 kms)

After breakfast drive to Guwahati. Explore Guwahati, the gateway city to North-east of India. Evening spend on a river cruise to watch the sun go down the river and see yourself why the river is locally called 'Luit'- colour of blood. Overnight at Guwahati.

Day 13: Guwahati

Day at leisure.

Day 14: Guwahati (Departure)

Depart for your onward journey.
