Tourist Attractions in Kota

Important tourist attractions of Kota are Jag Mandir, Kota Fort, Brij Raj Bhawan Palace, Umed Bhawan Palace, a wonderful haveli with beautiful wall paintings  and the royal cenotaphs.

Jag Mandir
Kishore Sagar is the scenic artificial tank which lies between the City Palace and the RTDC Hotel Chambal. Jag Mandir Palace is located right in the middle of the Kishore Sagar on a small island. The Jag Mandir palace was founded by Maharani of Kota in 1740. In the early morning, best view of this palace can be seen but it is beautiful at any day time. The beauty of Jag Mandir is increased by its blue water. In Jag Mandir one can also enjoy boat ride. Boat rides can also be enjoyed in the lake.


Kota Fort

Kota Fort
The Kota Fort is one of the prominent tourist attraction of Kota, Kota fort overlooks the Chambal river. There is a museum inside the Kota fort which exhibits chambers which are ornately painted. The foundation of the Kota Fort was laid in the mid 13th century by the Jait Singh. Kota Fort is famous for its Durbar Hall, Durbar Hall exhibits an attractive mirror work and has very wonderfully designed paintings. Durbar Hall also houses the doors of ebony and ivory. Wonderful miniature paintings of the Kota school are also housed within the Durbar Hall. Afterwards, the Maharajas of Kota discarded the fort and build various palaces at that place.

Chambal Garden
Chambal Garden is the lush green garden at Amar Niwas. This place is a lovely picnic spot. While enjoying the beauty of the place one can even enjoy a boat ride.

Umed Bhawan Palace
Umed Bhawan Palace was founded by Maharao Umed Singh II of Kota. Foundation of this palace was laid by Sir Swinton Jacob. It is most prominent attractions of Kota. Whole palace is design in European style. Umed Bhawan Palace is surrounded by heritage hotel. Now, Umed Bhawan Palace has now been converted into a luxurious heritage hotel which is well furnished with modern amenities. The hotel has 32 rooms. Inside the hotel there are Italian marble floors, Edwardian drawing room, a billiard room, long corridors and courtyards. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and a fitness centre. 

Rao Madho Singh Ji Museum
Initially, Rao Madho Singh Ji Museum was a palace, this museum gives a magnificent sight of the history and splendor of the place. The museum exhibits a large collection of Rajput paintings of the Kota school, beautiful sculptures, ancient armory, miniature paintings and other precious antiques. This Museum was named after the son of the ruler of Bundi who was declared the first ruler of Kota by the Mughal emperor Jahangir. It is the treasure house of artistic items used by the rulers of Kota. The museum remain closed on Friday and on other state holidays.

Kota Barrage
Kota Barrage is a part of the irrigation canal system on the Chambal River. This beautiful place is perfect for outings and evening strolls.

Brijraj Bhawan Palace
Brijraj Bhawan Palace is a colonial style palace which is situated on the banks of Chambal river. The foundation of this palace is laid in the early nineties. The palace has large spacious rooms that are decorated very properly with unique furniture. An important feature of the palace is that almost all the rooms overlook the Chambal river providing an amazing view of the mighty river. Brijraj Bhawan Palace has now been changed into a luxurious heritage hotel.
