Bageshwar is located at the confluence of the Gomti and Saryu rivers at
a height of 3,200 feet
above sea level.
Bageshwar is known for
the famous temple
complex. The Temple is strung with bells,
the traditional Kumaoni
offerings. This place comes truly alive during the Uttarayani Mela
held in the month of January every year. Bageshwar is also popular with
the trekking enthusiasts. It is the base camp for treks to Pindari, the most accessible glacier in the region. Neeleshwar and Bheeleshwar are two facing hills
which are located within
a very easy distance
from the town. There is a Chandika Temple and an old Shiv Temple
located on the top of Neeleshwar
and Bheeleshwar hills. |
