Bhimtal is one of the largest lake in Kumaon. This lake lies on the way to Naukuchiatal. According to the legends, Bhimtal is associated with Bhima of the Mahabharata. A restaurant is also located at the centre of the Bhimtal which offers panoramic view of the town. There is also a privately owned folk culture museum at Mehragaon on the Bhowali Road. This museum was curated by Dr. Yashodhar Matpal and has an interesting collection of rock art. You can enjoy sailing or explore the surrounding forests, apricot and peach orchards in Bhimtal.
