Binsar is located about 32 km from Almora and was the summer capital of Chand Kings. The whole region is now situated under the Binsar sanctuary. This region is very rich in biodiversity and a centre par excellence which offers excellent Himalayan views and a holiday in uninterrupted solitude. On moonlit nights the view of the sparking snow clad peaks provides an exhilarating experience. Binsar is a very quiet and peaceful wildlife sanctuary in the Kumaon Hills. The drive to Binsar is an unparalleled experience, with oak and deodar trees located all throughout the way. This region also offers the unmatched views of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Shivaling, Trishul and Nanda Devi peaks. 

For the accommodation, there are various rest houses and small hotels in Binsar. Among the various rest houses, one of the rest house is the Binsar Tourist Rest House. The Binsar tourist rest house is run by the Kumaoan Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. This rest house has about five standard rooms, eleven deluxe rooms, eight super deluxe rooms and two family suites.
