The Karni Kot Heritage Hotel is situated in the village of Sodawas in Marwar region. The history of this small village dates back to 1943 when Umaid Singh, the former king of Jodhpur, granted it as a 'jagir' (land assigned) to Thakur Bishen Singhji. The village continues to be owned by Singhji's family, till date, but has not discontinued its tradition of warm hospitality to guests at Karni Kot. Hotel Karni Kot was converted into a heritage hotel in 1990, and favorite among tourists.
