Ramgarh is situated at a height of approximately 5870 feet, about 14 km ahead of Bhowali and 25 km from Nainital. Ramgarh had also been known as the cultural capital as Rabindranath Tagore wanted to set up a centre of learning. He was influenced by the Ramgarh’s magical spell-laden orchards, forested hillsides, babbling brooks and views of snow clad Himalayas. But, he eventually gifted Shantiniketan to West Bengal. Later Ramgarh, was converted into a horticultural haven or the fruit bowl of Kumaon. Today, the fruit processing factory is pride of Ramgarh.

For the accommodation, there are various rest houses and hotels in Ramgarh. Among the various rest houses, one of the rest house is the Ramgarh Tourist Rest House. This tourist rest house is run by the Kumaoan Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. This small tourist rest house has about four deluxe family suite rooms and six super deluxe rooms.
