          The 
          Mehrangarh fort is a maze of marvels, not knowing what the next 
          doorway might lead to. In front of a large gate of the Fort, there is 
          a local man of Jodhpur who has long beared and dressed in traditional 
          threads with sword, hookah, turban, and shield welcoming the tourists. 
          Also there are a lot of local musicians who are singing Rajasthani 
          folk music.Inside the Mehrangarh fort there are carefully preserved and well 
          maintained royal artifacts which are Jewel House, Ajit Vilas, 
          Durbar-e-Khash, Moti Mahal, Sukh Mahal and Phool Mahal.
 
          Jewel 
          HouseJewel House has a wonderful collection of jewellery including diamond 
          eyebrows held by hooks over the ears. There are also palanquins, 
          howdahs and ornate royal cradles, all marvelously preserved and 
          maintained.
 
          Phool 
          MahalPhool Mahal upstairs was built by Akhai Singh as a hall of private 
          audience, it displays exhibits of 18th century.
 
          Durbar-e-KhashDurbar-e-Khash is famous for the portraits of the former rulers, the 
          lavishly guilded ceiling and the jodhpur coat of arms displayed above 
          the royal couch.
 
          Umaid 
          VilasUmaid Vilas exhibits Rajput miniatures.
 
          Ajit VilasAjit Vilas has a fascinating collection of musical instruments and 
          costumes.
 
          Sardar 
          Vilas, Khabka Mahal, Chandan Mahal, Long Balcony and the Moti Mahal 
          were constructed at the end of the 16th century. The 
          ceiling and the walls of the fort are gracefully decorated with 
          lattice work on the windows. Inside the fort a series of palaces and 
          courtyards welcome the visitor. Apartments of the palace has a 
          wonderful collection of the trappings of the Indian royalty. The fort 
          also exhibits large and unusual wooden statues which are wonderfully 
          decorated Through the various avenues and routes of the complex you 
          will reach at the roof of the fort. From the top of the roof amazing 
          view of the entire Jodhpur can be seen.  |
