Jaisalmer is a place where one can enjoy the past in reward. The Jaisalmer Fort opens to an entire living area which is scattered with wonderful palaces, Jain temples, mansions, and museums. Before Rawal Jaisal founded Jaisalmer in 1155 AD, it was the capital of the Bhati Rajputs. Ludurva is a very prominent tourist attraction which is situated about 16 km to the north west of Jaisalmer. Ludurva was a prosperous town in the 10th and 11th AD. It is an important hub of art and architecture. The beautiful carvings and other remains of the antique monuments provide a sight of Ludurva's magnificent past. One of the pilgrimage center of Jains is Ludurwa Temple. Main attractions of Ludurwa Temple are high elaborate arch at the entrance of the temple with wonderful carvings and the celestial tree "Kalpataru". Devotees from all over come to visit this temple.

The other attractions in Jaisalmer besides the Jaisalmer Fort and Ludurwa temple are Wood Fossil Park and Desert National Park.

Wood Fossil Park:  Wood Fossil Park or Aakal is located about 15 km away from the city. One can discover the geologic tragedies that have taken place in the Thar Desert 180 million years ago at this park.
