Jaisalmer
Fort has a very wonderful architectural design. It has 3 layer of
walls. During the early morning and at the sunset, the ramparts,
bastions and the long stretching walls of the fort shines
magnificently. The fort is 250 feet tall and strengthened by a
magnificent crenellated sandstone wall which is 30 feet high. The fort
ninty nine bastions, from these ninty two bastions were constructed
between 1633 to 1647. The fort stands about 30 metres over the city.
It is easily reachable from Bhoot Pol, Hawa Pol, Suraj Pol and Ganesh
Pol.
Jaisalmer Fort has a total of 5 storeys, all of which are fully
decorated with balconies and windows that displays some of the finest
stonework while the interior of the fort is painted and covered in
unique Rajput style. The bastions surrounds the whole township that
consist of temples, havelis of rich merchants, palace complex and the
residential complexes of the armies and merchants. Merchant Havelis
are large houses which are constructed by rich merchants with
beautiful and elaborative stonework. The other main attractions of the
fort are Raj Mahal and Laxminath Temple. |
