Day
01: Flight to India (New Delhi)
Around midnight arrival in
New Delhi. The cosmopolitan
city and capital New Delhi is the main gateway for travellers
to India. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative
and transferred to the hotel.
Day
02: New Delhi
This morning we will have sightseeing
of Old Delhi. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat"
and "Jama Masjid", the great mosque of Old Delhi.
Today we also visit the famous "Humayun Tomb"
which is the first substantial example of Mughal
architecture
in
India. We will also visit "Qutub Minar" which
is 71 meter high and consists of five stories. In 1199
work began on this tower, which was intended to be the
most glorious tower of victory in the world. Before we
proceed to the hotel we will drive through New Delhi
where we will visit the
India Gate, Government Buildings and
Embassies.
Day
03: New Delhi - Shimla
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave
New Delhi and move towards
Shimla. From New Delhi we will
start our jeep safari to Shimla. The British called Shimla
the "Queen of Hill Stations." Shimla is situated
in the northwest Himalayas. It was the summer capital
of India before independence and it is now the capital
of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla derives its name from "Shyamala"
the goddess Kali, whose temple existed in the dense forest
that covered
Jakhoo
Hill in the early 19th century. Its
well-developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous
attractions make it one of Indian's most popular and biggest
hill-stations. There are various places of interest in
and around Shimla, which are The Mall, Christ Church, Jakhu Hill, Shimla State Museum etc. We will visit these
places. Evening free to visit the local market. We will
spend night in Shimla.
Day
04: Shimla - Sarahan
In the morning after breakfast from Shimla we drive to
Sarahan. Sarahan lies in Sirmour district of Himachal
Pradesh at a height of 4500 feet on the Nahan-Shimla highway.
It is basically a unique all-weather hill station. Its
location and characteristics are beautiful enough to attract
any visitor. It is important to note that Sarahan valley
experiences snowfall too, which is very rare and unique
because mountain heights in the bracket of 4500 ft. seldom
receive snowfall. Sarahan is a very beautiful village,
which gives a breadth taking view of the mighty
Himalayan
ranges. Sarahan valley has the famous "Bhima Kali
temple" which is 800 years old and a splendid piece
of architecture. In the evening we will visit this temple
and explore the surroundings of the Sarahan valley. We
will spend night in Sarahan.
Day
05: Sarahan - Sangla
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave
Sarahan and move towards Sangla valley. It is a picturesque
drive through winding mountain roads. The topography changes
constantly - conifers, terraced fields, huts perched precariously
in the middle of nowhere on distant ridges, the Sutlej
River hurtling across the valley. Sangla Valley is located
in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh in the northern
Himalayas of India. The Sangla town is located on the
banks of the Baspa River
and gives a panoramic view of
the Baspa Delta. The Sangla Valley is also known as the
Baspa valley as the Baspa River flows through here. It
is considered as one of the prettiest valleys in the entire
Himalayas. We will enjoy the beautiful surroundings at
Sangla Valley. We will spend night in Sangla.
Day
06: Sangla - Tabo - Nako
In the morning after breakfast drive in jeep to Tabo.
Tabo is the ancient cultural hub of
Spiti. It houses the
most famous Monastery of Himachal Pradesh. This is over
1000 year old and treated as the most sacred Monastery
next only to Tholling Gompa in
Tibet. The temples are
built in the West-Tibetan style. The inner wall of Tabo
is covered by frescos and painting from Buddha's life.
Often referred as `Ajanta of Himalayas' Tabo's paintings
are still preserved in most original form. After sightseeing
of Tabo and after having our lunch we will cross the district
of Kinnaur, and stay at the village of Nako.
Nako is also
known for its ancient Gompa, though it has been badly
damaged in recent years. We will spend night in Nako.
Day
07: Nako - Pin Valley
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave
Nako and move towards
Pin valley. Pin Valley is located
in the cold desert region of the Spiti valley. Pin Valley
was declared as a National Park in 1987. With its snow
laden unexplored higher reaches and slopes, the Park forms
a natural habitat for a number of endangered animals including
the Snow Leopard and Siberian Ibex. Along with animals,
rare birds like the Himalayan Snow Cock, Chukor, Snow
Partridge and the Tibet Snow Finch also flourish in the
area. Steeped in history, the influence of Tibetan culture
is prevalent in the surrounding areas of the Park, visible
in the Buddhist lamas, shrines, monasteries and culture
of its residents. We will visit this park and explore
the natural surroundings in this region and also observe
the activities of the animals. Evening free for leisure.
Day
08: Pin Valley - Rangrik
In the morning after having our breakfast we leave Pin
Valley and move towards Rangrik. Evening free for leisure.
We will spend night in Rangrik.
Day
09: Rangrik - Batal
In the morning after having our breakfast we leave Rangrik
and move towards
Batal in the jeeps. Arrive in Batal by
afternoon. Batal is situated at the foot of
Kunzum pass,
which provides the main approach to Spiti from Lahaul.
The panorama as viewed from the top of the pass is enthralling
and inspiring. On the way are the
Bara Shigri glaciers.
Bara meaning big and Shigri meaning glacier in Lahauli
dialect. The view of the Shigri Stream emerging from beneath
a huge iridescent archway of solid ice is a never to be
forgotten sight. The glacier is mountainous mass of solid
ice, more than a kilometer wide and extending over a distance
of ten kilometers. We spend night in Batal.
Day
10: Batal - Manali
In the morning after breakfast drive straight to reach
Manali. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations
representative and transferred to the hotel. Manali is situated
near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading
to Leh. The landscape here is breath taking. One can see
spectacular views of well-defined snowcapped peaks and
wooded slopes. The
Beas River rushes along its rocky course
amid grassy meadows carpeted with wild flowers and wagtails
hop along from stone to stone along the stream's edge.
On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields
and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday,
a favorite resort for trekkers to various regions in
Kashmir
valley. In the evening we have sightseeing in Manali.
We will visit Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht Hot Water
Spring, Naggar castle and Arjun cave. We will spend night
in Manali.

11: Manali
In Manali we have this day at leisure.
Day
12: Manali - New Delhi
In the morning after having our breakfast we will drive
to New Delhi. Evening free at leisure (opportunity for
the last shopping or enjoy a massage in the Hotel) After
having dinner we leave the hotel for the Airport.
Day 13: New Delhi
Around midnight flight to home destination.
