Balotra |
Balotra is a city in Barmer District of Rajasthan state in
India. It is about 100 km from Jodhpur. The town is well-known
for hand block printing and textile industry and for an annual
desert and tribal fair at Tilwara. The town is well connected
with Jodhpur by rail and buses at regular intervals. From
Balotra towards Jalore (14 km) there is India's Third Brahma
Temple in the village of Asotra. Famous Rani Bhatiyaniji
temple is also here in village named Jasol which is about 4
kms from Balotra. About 13 km away from Balotra the famous
Jain Temple Nakoda is located. The place receives religious
devotees from across India. The town is home to more than
5,000 textile units and is located on the coast of the river
Luni. Balotra is located at 25.83°N 72.23°E. It has an average
elevation of 106 metres (347 feet). As of 2001 India census
Balotra had a population of 61,724. Males constitute 54% of
the population and females 46%. |

History of Balotra |
The
town was brought into existence by Vala Ji or Bala Ji Rajpurohit
from whom the city derives its name. Initially, it was a small
settlement which later changed into a village and later into a
town.
The town of Balotra is mostly popular for housing the well-known
Nagoda Jain temple. It is one of the most revered pilgrimage
destinations for the Jain community. The temple is a brilliant
example of fine architecture and many sculptures are carved
inside the temple which make it very beautiful. Apart from this
temple, a number of other temples are located in the town such
as Mohanraj ji Mandir, Narsingh Ji Mandir, the Rani Bhatiyaniji
temple, Chonch mandir, Khed Mandir, Hanuman Mandir and Jaanraaj
Ji Mandir.
The historical town of Balotra has emerged as a leading and
developing town in western Rajasthan with gradually changing
time. Many colleges, modern factories, high standard of living,
excellent transportation system, global connectivity and
sky-kissing buildings give it a view of some metropolitan feel.
The town of Balotra is well connected with all the major cities
of India through air, rail and road transportation. The nearest
airport is located in Jodhpur which is about 100 kms from here.
The town has a railway station which hosts direct trains from

Balotra City is also famous for the textile industry.For 60
years, Balotra has been known as a leading centre in India for
processing and trading of various types of fabrics. It is the
leading textiles center of India and was popular for producing
and trading of many kinds of fabrics. Balotra is also famous for
dyeing and printing of cotton and polyester fabrics.More than
5000 textiles units are located here. It provides employment to
more than 70,000 people. |

Mata Rani Bhatiyani Temple at Jasol
Mata Rani Bhatiyani temple is located at Jasol village in
Pachpadra Tehsil near Balotra town in Barmer district
Rajasthan. It is well-known for the miracles that the
goddess Mata Rani Bhatiyani showers upon her followers.
Bithuja Temple
Bithuja Temple place near Balotra is situated on the banks
of River Luni. Bithuja Temple belong’s to Baba Ramdev who
is folk–deity of Rajasthan in India.
Khed Temple
Khed Temple is the world famous temple of Lord Ranchhod
Ray Bhagwan [Shri Vishnu JI] placed near big textile
industry city Balotra. The temple is a historical
monument.
Tilwara
Tilwara is a village in Pachpadra tehsil of Barmer
district of Rajasthan state in India. Tilwara is situated
on the Luni River and is a railway station on
Jodhpur-Balotra route. The village is famous for Mallinath
Fair held in March/April every year.
