The
village of Gondla is about 18 kms from Keylong at an elevation
of 3,160m and is situated on the banks of the beautiful
Chandra River in Lahaul Spiti District, Himachal Pradesh. The
location of royal houses of the village is interesting. The
village is a popular tourist destination for its scenic
landscape and the royal houses. The scene of royal houses of
the village is remarkable.
The residence of the Thakur of Gondla is an eight storey
building of its own kind in the whole Lahaul valley. It is
worth a visit. This is called Gondla castle or fort and was
founded in 1700 A.D.
The eight storied building which is the royal home of the
Thakur of Gonda is unique in its architecture and is visited
for its magnificence. There is a fair that takes place in
Gompa every year in the month of July. The Gompa of this
village has historical significance and the fair attracts a
large number of visitors. |
