The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels is designed and decorated in a modern royal style to experience the existing royal luxury, taste a slice of royalty and enjoy a royal feast onboard, where every moment is woven together into an everlasting and immemorial experience to be happy and lived forever.

The passenger coaches which were designed originally to be the personal railway coaches of the erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India. These coaches were not being used by the Indian Railways after independence in normal passenger trains on account of very traditional and rich interiors.

The name "Palace on Wheels" was derived from its royal back-ground of the coaches. A new meter gauge air conditioned Palace-on-Wheels was launched in 1984 & had 13 Saloons, 2 Restaurant cum Kitchen car, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 Service Cars. In order to further increase the facilities on the train and due to over all gauge conversion in the state, a new broad gauge Palace-on-Wheels has been constructed & has been running since 1996. It's 14 Saloons are inter-connected, the interiors of the saloons reflect the aesthetics of the former Royal states of Rajasthan. The exclusive and exquisite Palace on Wheels has wall to wall carpeting, luxurious Cabins, a well stocked bar, two dining cars
(The Maharaja and Maharani) and a very personalized service... in fact, almost everything that could comprise of heaven on earth for seven days!

In the past 20 years of operations, the Palace on Wheels has been rated as one of the best ten luxurious rail journeys in the world.

1) Jodhpur
Jodhpur is the second largest city of the state of Rajasthan is well-known for its wonderful Mehrangarh fort. Another example of Rajput fame is the Jaswant Thada built in 1899. Lunch at a hotel & dinner on board.

2) Udaipur, the "City of Palaces"

Udaipur the Rajasthan's most romantic city, the "Eastern Venice", looks delightful with its temples, gardens ,fairy-tale palaces, lakes, and narrow streets. Everything is telling tales of the heroic past.

3) Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore is well-known for its huge tiger population. As tourism in the park increased, so did the population of neighboring villages. This lead to increasing amounts of fatal human-tiger interactions and poaching. The Indian Government started Project Tiger in 1972 with an allotted area of 60 m2. It was later expanded to become what is now called, the Ranthambore National Park. Besides tigers, the reserve has flourishing bird population with more than 270 diverse variety of birds here.

4) Jaipur, "The Pink City"
Jaipur City was Founded in AD 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan is popularly known as the Pink City with broad avenues and spacious gardens. The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is steeped in culture and history. Here the past comes alive in wonderful forts and palaces, blushed pink, where once lived the maharajas. The busy bazaars of Jaipur are well-known for fabric and shoes, Rajasthani jewellery, and possess a timeless superiority and are definitely a treasure-trove for the shoppers. This charming city with its idealistic attraction takes you to an era of tradition and royalty.
Once the capital city of the Marwar state, it was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodhaji - chief of the Rathore Clan of Rajputs who claimed descent from Lord Rama. The main trade centre of 16th century, the city, today, has grown to become the second largest city of Rajasthan, retaining the medieval splendour.

5) Khajuraho, "City of Tamples"
Khajuraho city is well-known for housing the prominent World Heritage Site - the Khajuraho temples. The temple town carries a huge heritage of the bygone era and is one of the chief tourist destination. The city nestles itself in the northern part of Madhya Pradesh. This thousand year old city of Khajuraho is the best watch on your heritage tour. The city has number of excursions which range from wildlife to delightful waterfalls.

6) Varanasi, "The Holy City"
Varanasi or Banaras in Hindi is the holiest city of India’s majority followers of Hindu religion.Varanasi is one of the most significant pilgrimage centers in India. It is located on the west bank of holy Ganges. Also known as Banaras it is a main tourist attraction for those traveling to India.

7) The Taj Mahal, the seventh wonder of the world
Taj Mahal the famous symbol of love was built by Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. It took 22 years to compete this mausoleum, which is completely built from white marble. This building is an memorable sight, not exclusively for lovers.

Day-1, Delhi - Safdarjung Station
Sunday, Departure 16.30 PM
Delhi The luxurious Royal Rajasthan on Wheels takes you through a seven day travel of the vibrant Rajasthan. The magic of the marvelous journey starts at New Delhi and prepares you to weave the fabric of wonderful feeling that becomes reality over the next seven days. Your royal journey starts from Delhi and takes you through several erstwhile princely states.
Welcome on board at Delhi with the ceremonial greetings at the Safdarjung station with traditional tika and Aarti with garlanding and some mock tails to refresh yourselves. After check in, you would be escorted to the respective cabins. Feel the difference of the World in the moving Palace which empowers tradition and luxury hand to hand.

Day-2, Jodhpur Monday, Arrive at 09.15 AM. Breakfast on board | Departure 17.10 PM
Jodhpur the second largest city of the state of Rajasthan is well-known for its wonderful Mehrangarh fort. Another example of Rajput splendor is the Jaswant Thada constructed in 1899.Today Lunch at the hotel & dinner on board.

Day-3, Udaipur Tuesday, Arrival 08.00 AM Breakfast on board | Departure 14.30 PM
Water marked by whimsy & prestige, the Venice of the holds stage as one of India's truly seductive cities. Udaipur is an international destination unto itself, packed with passion & zeal, Udaipur is raw Rajput dreaming, with Havelis gardens ,palaces, & temples at every turn. Visit to the wonderful princely city palace. Lunch at a hotel & in the afternoon followed by a trip to crystal gallery.

Day-3, Chittorgarh Tuesday, Arrival 16.45 AM | Departure 22.00 PM
The story is a saga of courage, determination & sacrifice. The fort of Chittorgarh is a treasure trove of history & offers to the traveler an insight into the life of the great Rajput rulers. The victory tower or Vijay Stambh is one of the famous tourist attractions of the fort. The palace of queen & Padmini Gaumukh reservoir are Prominent spots to the south of the Rana Kumbh palace. The light & sound programme is shown at the fort.

Day-4, Sawai Madhopur Wednesday, Arrival 05.30 AM Breakfast on board or Hotel Vinayak | Departure 11.00 AM
Situated in the eastern part of Rajasthan, Sawai Modhupur's claim to fame today is the Ranthambore Fort & Ranthambore National Park. Visit the national park to catch a glimpse of the majestic tigers roaming around in the open wilderness & also pay a visit to the wonderful fort to turn a page in the history of Rajasthan. There is also one another temple on route the park by the name of Amareshwar Mohadeo temple which can be visited by tourist. Lunch on board.

Day-4, Jaipur Wednesday, Arrival 13:15 PM | Departure 22.15 PM
Welcome by sweet music of the auspicious "Shehnai".& caparisoned elephants. Watch the beautiful "Hawa Mahal" (the palace of winds), elephants ride at Amber Fort, shopping of centuries old object the arts & other items.
Lunch at a hotel / on board & visit to the city palace residence of the former maharaja of Jaipur which houses a museum of remarkable centuries-old exhibits & the Jantar-Mantar built by the founder of Jaipur maharaja Sawai jai Singh-ii who himself was noted astronomer.
Dinner at a hotel with cultural program.


Day-5, Khajuraho Thursday, Arrival 11.00 AM Breakfast on board | Departure 18.30 PM
The 9th to 12th century temples of Khajuraho is the evidences of the architectural geniuses during the times of chandela dynasty. located in Madhya Pradesh, India, Khajuraho oozes with enthusiasm, eroticism, dance & music & other finesses of innovative arts depicted in images & sculpture of the temples were built in north Indian "Nagara" style of architecture, though only 20 of them have survived the rough weather conditions over long years of time. Guest will take on visit of museum and temples.

Day-6, Varanasi (Banaras) Friday, Arrival 06.00 AM | Departure 18.00 PM
Varanasi is the oldest city of the world. Varanasi is more than 3000 years old & is famous as the city of temples. In Varanasi, there are temples at every few paces. Jyotirlinga Visvanatha temple or golden temple, rebuilt in 1776, is devoted to the Lord Shiva. The Jnana Vapi well (meaning "well of wisdom") is supposed to have been dug by lord Shiva himself. The Ganga Ghats (river front) are the most famous pilgrimage spot of Varanasi & are centers of learning and music. The holy city has been a sign of spiritualism, philosophy & mysticism for thousands of years & has produced great saints & personalities like Tulsi das, Shankaracharaya, Gautama Buddha, Mahavira, Kabir, Ramanuja & Patanjali.Lunch at a hotel & dinner on board. Sightseeing comprise Maha Aarti, visit to Ghats, temples & Buddhist Temples at Sarnath.
 


Day-7, Agra, Taj Mahal Saturday, Arrival 05.00 AM Breakfast on board | Departure 23.00 PM
Agra is one of the most famous destinations of the world tourism map with two heritage monuments visiting Taj Mahal & Agra Fort. It is a exciting centre of art , culture & religious philosophies that have enriched mankind & shaped human thought over centuries. Agra is well-known for handicrafts products such as carpets, footwear, brass-wear, Inlay work on marvel, leather work, Jewellery, Zari & embroidery work. Lunch at a hotel & dinner on board.

Day-8, Delhi Sunday, Arrival 07.00 AM Breakfast on board. Check out time 07.45 AM

• 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
• Remaining 50% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.

In case of Group:
• 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
• Remaining 50% of ticket value 75 days prior to departure.

Cancellation Policy
• Cancellation must be advised by Fax/E-mail/Letter to The Luxury Trains. On cancellation, refund will be made. • Certain amount of the ticket value will be deducted as follows.

In case of FITs
• 5% of ticket value 60 days or more prior to departure.
• 20% of ticket value between 45 to 59 days prior to departure.
• 50% of ticket value between 30 to 44 days prior to departure.
• 100% of ticket value between 30 days prior to departure.

In case of Group
• 20% of ticket value 89 days prior to departure.
• 50% of ticket value between 88 to 31 days.
• 100% of ticket value between 30 days prior to departure.
