Bird Watchig Tour in Uttarpardesh and Uttranchal

Comments from John and Monica Kirby, Pat and Garry Hughes- UK

Dear S Minglani.

We would all just like to thank you so much for the tour you arranged for us recently.  Everything went well (well mostly) from start to finish.

Firstly we must commend our driver Paul.  He is a gem and you should be very proud of him. Nothing was too much trouble. He was polite and friendly and we liked him very much. His driving was immaculate even on the most testing of mountain roads. Please pass on our thanks and very best wishes to him!

The bird guide you sent with us too was one of the nicest we have ever had. Although quite young he was definitely an expert in his field and made the whole trip interesting with his knowledge of both the birds and other natural history and geography of the area. It was like having an extra friend on the trip with us and we felt as if we had known him for a long time. Throughout the whole trip he was jolly yet polite and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed his company.

The accomodation was, in places, interesting. Sattal tourist rest house was probably the coldest room i have ever stayed in but with the addition of a lot of clothes to sleep in we got by. The staff there were very good and although not english speakers we had a good time with them. Binsar was a very nice place and the mountain views were spectacular. West View at Ranikhet was a nice hotel even if a little faded in its glory but again the staff were excellent. Tiger Camp in Corbetts was first class. The food was good, the rooms warm and comfortable and the staff the best of the whole trip. Naini Retreat at Nainital was everything we had hoped. Beautiful rooms, with even a hot water bottle at night, something we could have done with in Sattal! Again the staff were excellent with one exception who refused to talk to or acknowledge us ladies, to the extent of offering omelettes to the men and ignoring us. We were not impressed!  Metro Heights in Delhi was not the best of places. The location was not good and on our second visit they tried to tell us we had only one room booked. After insisting on speaking to the manager and with Pauls help we did get two rooms. For the most part it was adequate and the food was good and dining room staff excellent again.

I shall be writing a trip report about the birding and will forward you a copy so you can pass it to any other prospective birders wanting to use your services. We will also add it to a birding site with a recommendation of your services. We are considering a trip to the North East in a year or two and will not hesitate to use your company again if you cover this area. Please let me know - we would want to visit Kaziranga and other places in that approximate area.

Lastly, I would like to contact Raju at some time - i assume we can do this via the Binsar tourist rest house. Do you have his full name please so we can add it to our trip report??

Thanks again for your help and first class service.

Kindest regards,

John and Monica Kirby, Pat and Garry Hughes
