Karauli, an
erstwhile state in eastern Rajasthan, just 64 kms off the
main Jaipur Agra National Highway, is a remote ancient town,
a devotional city having a wealth of history and a
magnificent 600 year old palace with beautiful stone
carvings, gorgeous 'jali' work and exquisite frescoes.
Bhanwar Vilas Palace, a member of the Indian Heritage Hotels
Association and India's royal Legacy, was constructed during
the early 1930's in colonial style, is now the present
residence of the Maharaja of Karauli. It has been opened for
tourists since 1995. |
