One of the
five holy places of the Jain community is Ranakpur which is situated
in a peaceful valley deep in the Aravalis. It is also an important
pilgrimage sites of Jainism. Ranakpur is situated in the mountain
ranges of Pali district, about 23 km away from the Phalna railway
station. Ranakpur is well-known for its famous Jain Temples. Ranakpur
has moderate climate. It is around 10.6° Celsius in winters and
around 42.0° Celsius in summers. |

History of Ranakpur |
The Jain
community had always enjoyed the support of the ruling family of
Mewar. In the 15th century, Rana Kumbha of Mewar gave a large portion
of land to the Jains which is situated deep in the Aravalis in a calm
and scenic valley. This area is regarded as Ranakpur. Ranakpur is
famous for beautiful Ranakpur Jain Temples. Ranakpur Jain Temples were
constructed in the 15th century AD under the rule of Rana Kumbha. Then
it was renovated time to time. A huge basement of this temple covers
48,000 square feet. Inside the temple there are twenty four pillared
halls and four subsidiary shrines. These temples are very old but even
today these temples are well preserved in a perfect condition. |

Ranakpur,
commonly known as the 'temple town of Rajasthan ' is gifted with
abundant foliage and charming scenes. Famous tourist attraction in
Ranakpur are the Ranakpur Jain Temples.
Ranakpur Jain Temples
clearly depicts the rich temple architecture of the ancient times.
Most famous temple in Ranakpur is devoted to Rishabhji. Huge basement
of this temple covers 48,000 square feet. Rankpur Jain temples covers
an area of about 4500 square yards. Chaumukha Temple - Chaumukha
Temple is a central four-faced temple, it houses a statue of Jain
Tirthankara Adinath. The temple has four small shrines with 80 spires
which are supported by 420 columns. There are four subsidiary shrines,
24 pillared halls and in all 1444 columns. Each of the column are
carved intricately and ornamented with most elaborate figures and
sculptures, no two being alike. There are two temples dedicated to
Neminath and Parasvanath which faces the main temple. The carving on
these temples bear similarity to those of Khajuraho.

By Rail:
Ranakpur is well connected by rail. The nearest railway station from
Ranakpur is Phalna which is located on the Delhi-Ahmedabad sector.
By Road:
Ranakpur is also connected by road. A wide network of bus services
links Ranakpur with many adjacent places.
By Air:
Udaipur is the nearest airport from Ranakpur which is about 80 km
