Day 01: Delhi (Arrival)
Around midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan city and
capital Delhi is the main gateway for travellers. Upon
arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred
to the hotel.
Day 02: Delhi - Paro (by air)
In the morning you will drive to the airport for the flight to
Paro. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in
Paro. In the afternoon you will visit the Rinpung Dzong. It
was built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngwang Namgyal, the first
spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan. Then you will visit
the National Museum. After the visit of the National museum
you will go for an excursion to Taktstang monastery. In April
1998 a fire destroyed the main structure of Taktstang
Monastery, perched on the side of a cliff 900 m above the
valley floor.
Day 03: Paro - Thimphu (about 65 km)
After breakfast drive to Thimphu. Upon arrival, you will be
transferred to the hotel in Thimphu. In the afternoon set out
on sightseeing tour of Thimphu. First of all you will visit
the Tashichho Dzong on the bank of the river. It is the main
Secretariat building which houses the throne room of His
Majesty, the King of Bhutan and is also the summer residence
of the central monk body. After visiting the Secretariat
building you will visit the national library to see the rare
and precious collection of Buddhism. In the evening you will
visit the Memorial Chorten. Memorial Chorten is a stupa and
was built in 1974 in the memory of the late third king Jigme
Dorji Wangchuk.
Day 04: Thimphu - Punakha - Gangtey
In the morning you will drive to Gangtey. Enroute you will
stop at Punakha for lunch. Punakha was built between two
rivers in the 17th century by Shabdrung and served as the
capital of Bhutan until 1955. It was also the winter residence
of the central monk body. Punakha's climate and warmer
temperatures make its valley one of the most fertile in
Bhutan. In Punakha you will visit the Punakha Dzong. This
dzong was built during the 17th century by Shabdrung. After
visiting the Dzong drive to Gangtey. In the evening arrive in
Gangtey.
Day 05: Gangtey - Gogona (about 15 km)
In the morning after having the breakfast visit Gangtey Gompa.
This monastery follows the Pelling Nyingmapa sect of school
and was built in the 16th century. After visiting the
monastery you will start your trekking tour from Gangtey. From
Gangtey you will trek towards Gogona. It will be a trek for
about 5 to 6 hours. Gogona is situated at an altitude of 2700
m. Arrive in Gogona by the evening. Overnight stay in Gogona.
Day 06: Gogona - Khotokha (about 16 km)
In the morning after having the breakfast you will start your
trekking tour from Gogona. From Gogona you will trek towards
Khotokha. It will be a trek for about 7 to 8 hours. While
trekking you will climb over Shobju la pass situated at an
altitude of 3600 m. Khotokha is situated at an altitude of
2800 m. Arrive in Khotokha by the evening. Overnight stay in
Khotokha.
Day 07: Khotokha - Chazam - Wangdiphodrang
In the morning after having the breakfast you will start your
trekking tour from Khotokha. From Khotokha you will trek
towards Chazam. It will be a trek for about 5 to 6 hours.
While trekking you will climb over Mulaila Pass situated at an
altitude of 3000 m. The trekking will end up at Chazam. You
will reach Chazam by the afternoon. After having lunch at
Chazam you will drive to Wangdiphodrang. Arrive in
Wangdiphodrang by the evening. Overnight stay in
Wangdiphodrang.
Day 08: Wangdiphodrang - Thimphu - Paro
After visiting the Dzong you will drive to Thimphu. After
having lunch at Thimphu you will drive back to Paro.
Day 09: Paro - Delhi (by air)
In the morning you will drive to the airport for the flight to
Delhi. In the afternon arrive in Delhi.
Day 10: Delhi (Departure)
Around midnight flight to home destination.
