Pushkar is
the sacred city which is situated about 11 kms from Ajmer. The town of
Pushkar is located along the scenic Pushkar Lake, Due to the religious
significance of Pushkar, it has become a very popular place for
foreigners travelling around India to relax. Pushkar is one of the
important pilgrimage city for Hindus. Temple of God Brahma and Pushkar
Lake are worth visiting places in Pushkar. No pilgrimage is considered
complete without a dip in the sacred Pushkar lake according to the

temperature is around 38.1º Celsius in summers and it is around 5.5º

Most
prominent attraction in Pushkar is the
Pushkar Lake.
It is a belief in Hindu Mythology that God Brahma himself founded this
lake. There are about 52 Ghats and 400 temples in Pushkar which are
located on the banks of the Pushkar Lake.

shrine due to this temple Pushkar is regarded as a pilgrim site. If
you climb the hills around the village at sunset you will be rewarded
with an amazing views of the desert.
Festivals in Pushkar
Every year at the full moon of Kartik Poornima most colourful camel
and cattle fairs of the country is held in Pushkar. Pushkar Festival
takes place in the month of November when the whole of Pushkar is
transformed into a magnificent fair ground. To take bath in the holy
water of Pushkar Lake thousands of pilgrims come from all over during
the festival. The huge cattle and camel markets is the Pushkar’s huge
attraction at that time where camel traders, breeders farmers and buy
and sell. During this festival there is horse dealing, camel racing,
cattle trading and colourful festivities. This annual fair is an
unforgettable event when the entire small town of Pushkar is visited
by over lakhs of animals and tourists. Thousands of pilgrims travel
long distance to participate in the festival and entertainment is
richly provided during the festival. Various cultural events, music
and dance programmes are organized in the festival by Rajasthan
Tourist Development Corporation (RTDC). Accomodation is also provided
by RTDC to the Indian and foreign tourists in tents.
