Themisgam, 3200 m high, is a charming village in Leh District
of Jammu and Kashmir which is surrounded by majestic hills and
mountains. It is on the Leh-Srinagar Highway. The Indus River
is to the north of Themisgam.
An old palace and a Buddhist gompa, which possess a marble
statue of Buddha, form the main attractions. Delicious fruits
such as apricots are grown here in plenty. Themisgam is also
famous for its local beer named Chang.
Themisgam is ideal for adventure travelers and trekkers. The
area is beautiful during harvest.Themisgam can be approached from Leh, which is 80 km away. |
