Bakhim is situated on the wonderful land of Himalayas in west
Sikkim district, Bakhim is a natural garden and a land of
trekking. Bakhim is located 16 kms away from Yuksom in West
Sikkim District. It lies at an altitude of around 3100m on the
Dzongri (10 km) trek route. Bakhim is a natural garden which
is enclosed by dense mixed forests of magnolia, rhododendron,
orchids, and ferns. Prek Chu River flows nearby.For most
trekkers this is the first stop on the way to Goecha La Trek.
It is covered with dense forests of Magnolia, rhododendron,
orchids and ferns. The beauty of this place and the wonderful
views of nature are the major attractions for tourists.
Tsokha village (pronounced as Choka), a settlement of Tibetans
is home to few families and a monastery is located 3 kms away
from Bakhim and Yuksom, which is about 10,000 ft above sea
level and is the last stop on the way to Goecha La Trek is
located 15 kms away.
For trekkers who wish to trek to Dzongri and Dzongri Top it is
an wonderful sight of the Kanchenjunga range. Best time to
trek the Dzongri is early in the morning. It takes an hour
from the campsite to complete the trek. Another hour from
there is the Dzongri Top which has the amazing view of Mount
Kabru, Kanchenjunga, Ratong, and others.
The superb views of mountain ranges, deep valleys and Prek Chu
River flowing nearby make Bakhim more beautiful. |
