About Bomdila |
Bomdila is a wonderful small town which is located at a height
of about 8000 ft. above the sea level from where one can see
the bright scenery and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan
Range. There are many exciting options for entertainment in
this place and it is a famous tourist location in the region.
There are various temples that are located in the town and
these can be visited while travelling to the region. These
temples comprise both Hindu and Buddhist temples. One can a
observe a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks and the
clean mountain air serves to refresh the body and mind. The
town has various apple orchards and these are worth to visit.
Bomdila is also famous as a paradise for trekking and hiking.
There are many such locations around the town and this is one
of the major tourist attractions here. The Eagle Nest Wildlife
Sanctuary is also worth visiting and it is situated a short
distance away. A village called Tawang which is near Bomdila
is home to a 400 year old monastery.Best time to visit Bomdila
is from April to October.

as souvenirs. One can get a feel of Buddhist life in the town

Bomdila is the headquarters of West Kameng district which is
located at the height of 8500 ft above the sea level. It has a

Local site seeing to Dirang valley and the famous Sela Pass
(13,700 ft. M.S.L.) are exciting experience on the way to
Tawang. The Orchid Research and Development Station at Tippi
and two other Orchid conservation sanctuaries located at Sessa

This Museum offers wide variety of Souvenirs, Masks, Carpets

of Bomdila. In addition, tourists can also purchase various
articles from this crafts centre and markets located in nearby
area.
The Orchid Research And Development Station
It is situated at Tipi. This place displays around 425
species of striking orchids which attracts large influx of
tourists every year. In addition to these at present this
orchidarium also houses more than 50, 000 orchids.
Sessa Orchid Sanctuary
Sessa Orchid Sanctuary is home to some species of wild
animals including Red Panda, Crows, Pheasants and Goral. In
addition, tourists visiting this religious town can also explore
three gompas namely Lower, Middle and Upper Gompas which are
situated within the destination. Apart from these, Bomdila View
Point and R.R Hills are some of the other attractions of Bomdila.
Bomdila Monastery
Bomdila Monastery was founded by 12th Reincarnate of Tsona
Gontse Rinpoche. Bomdila Monastery signifies the rich tibetan
architecture. The Monastery houses a huge prayer hall along with
a Buddha Temple which are the main attractions for Tourists who
visit this place. Travellers can also head towards the Apple
Orchard which is also one of the best places for nature lovers
as it offers wonderful views of trees laden with fruits. |
