The calm and peaceful Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. The Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. This wildlife sanctuary protects some of the very rare, unspoilt, untouched and unexplored treasure of wild animals and birds. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary abounds with a rich and diverse variety of flora and fauna and offers ample opportunities to nature lovers to enjoy the captivating landscape. This sanctuary is spread over an area of 834.16 square km. The steep slopes, picturesque deep river valleys and rich hilly forest terrain and the splendid scenic beauty of the syntheri rock makes it a picturesque sanctuary. The forest in Dandeli is typical moist deciduous and semi evergreen type. The Kali river and its tributaries, Kaneri and Nagajhari, meander through the forest. |

Besides crocodiles, Barking deer, spotted deer, mouse deer, Sambar, sloth bear, panther, tiger, gaur, elephant, wild dog, civet cat, bison, jackal, langur and giant flying squirrel are the various wild animals which are found in the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. Besides this, a variety of colourful birds like Bush Grail, Partridge, magpie robin, golden backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle, reptiles, ruffles and frogs can also be seen in the Dandeli Wildlife sanctuary. |

a coracle on the Kali river, viewing the crocodiles
basking in the sun and flock of beautiful waterbirds
returning to nest in trees, darters drying their plumes on
deadwood entrenched in the river and egrets flying in the
