About Laxmi Narayan Mandir |
Birla Mandir, Jaipur is a Hindu temple initially known as
Lakshmi Narayan Temple, and is situated below the Moti Dungri
Fort in Jaipur, India and it is part of one of the several
Birla mandirs situated all around the country. This temple is
a proud architectural landmark of Jaipur. The grand temple is
positioned on a prominent ground at the base of Moti Dungari
hill in Rajasthan. The temple is sometimes also referred to as
the Laxmi Narayan Temple.
Built in pure white marble, the Birla Temple is unlike the
traditional ancient Hindu temples, and is built with a modern
approach.
This temple forms one of the main attractions of Jaipur. Birla
Temple of Jaipur looks striking, when it is vibrantly lit in
the night. The huge temple was built during the year 1988, by
Birla Group of Industries, one of the business tycoons of
India. The Temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu (Narayan), the
preserver and his companion Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth.
Due to this reason, Birla Temple is also known as Laxmi
Narayan Temple. Birla Mandir is built in the finest quality of
white marble. The three huge grounds of the temple symbolize
three different approaches to the religion. The beautiful
white marble temple enthralls the spectators, when it shines
at night. Stained glass widows portray the scenes from Hindu
scriptures. Ganesh the protector of households, is above the
lintel, and the fine quality of marble is apparent when you
enter the temple and look back at the entrance way. The images
of Lakshmi and Narayan attract the attention, being made out
from one piece of marble. Many of the deities of the Hindu
pantheon are depicted inside the temple, and on the outside
walls great historical personages and figures from all

Confucius, and Budhda. The Laxmi Narayan Mandir is a modern

According to history, the Birla temple was constructed on the
land given to the Birla family by the Maharaja, for just a token
sum of one rupee. One of India's most well-known business
families, B.M Birla Foundation, founded this temple in the year
