Mararikulam is a beach village in the district of Alappuzha.
Mararikulam is the fertile land of communism and it has a very
attractive beach which is famous by the name Marari Beach or
Mararikulam beach. There are two village panchayts for this
village, Mararikulam North and Mararikulam South. Mararikulam
North consists of parts of Mararikulam, Perunormangalam,
Kanichukulangara, Beach, Chennaveli and Poklasheri. The South
Panchayat consists of parts of Mararikulam, Kattoor,
Valavanadu, Omanapuzha,Pollathai, Preethikulangara, Kalavoor,
Pathirapally, and Chettikadu.Handicrafts and products made of
sea-shells and coir are available in abundance in Mararikulam.
Mararikulam is a pretty palm fringed coastal stretch which
comprises a small village and resort accommodation on the
Arabian Sea which is a preserve of local fishermen who
frequent the coast, it is also near Kochi and Alappuzha.
Mararikulam is located in the southern Indian state of Kerala

Mararikulam is linkesd by rail and has a railway station by the
same name. It is also linked by road. NH 47 passes through
S.L.Puram, which is 5 km to the east of Mararikulam. Nearest
airport is Cochin International Airport. |

Mararikulam has moderate climate all over the year and
balanced tropical climate. It receives two monsoons; north
east and south west. It has an average rainfall of about
1100 mm. It is one of the most striking destination for

of the people are living with fishing activity. They have a
daily income of Rs 100-300. Tourism give also an income to the

Temples
Mararikulam Shiva Temple, the temple of Lord Shiva and Sree
Parvathy, is excellent in its architectural splendor. The
Cherthala Karthiyani Temple is an ancient temple with Devi
Karthiyayini as the presiding deity. Kanichukulangara is famous
for the shrine of goddess Bhagavathy.
Kokkamangalam Apostle St. Thomas Pilgrim Centre
According to legends St. Thomas formed a Christian community at
Kokkamangalam and built a church here. This temple is one of the
major pilgrim centers in Kerala.
Thiruvizha
Thiruvizha is about about 5 kms to the south-west of Cherthala,
it is well-known for the Shiva temple that attracts large number
of devotees. It is believed that the divine prasadam given from
the temple is believed to possess medicinal and remedial
effects.
Aroor
Aroor has an industrial park which is famous for sea food
exports. The major attractions include Kartyayani Devi Temple,
St. Augustine's Church and Pavumpayil Sreekrishna Swamy Temple.
Arthunkal
Arthunkal is an important pilgrim centre in Cherthala. St
.Andrew’s Church, generally known as ‘Arthunkal Church’, is
located about 8 km south–west of Cherthala town facing a
beautiful shoreline.
Poochakkal
The main attractions at Poochakkal include Nagari Sree
Dharmasastha Temple, Thevarvattom Masjid , Manappuram
St.Theresas church Sreekandeswaram Mahadevar Temple and
Elikkattu Sreedharmasastha Temple.
Pallippuram
Pallippuram is well-known for Thiruayranikkulam Kadavil
Bhagavathi temple, St.Mary's Church and Kalathil temple.
Velorvattam
Velorvattom near Cherthala is known for ‘Velorvattom Mahadeva
temple’ which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Panavally
This peaceful village is located near Cherthala. Trichattukulam
Mahadevar temple, Odampally temple and Nalpathenneeswaram temple
are the major attractions in Panavally.
Thumpolly beach
It is a natural habitat for many rare birds, this is one of the
wonderful beaches in Kerala. Another attraction is St. Thomas
Church dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary.
