The charming health resort
amidst Western Ghats is popularly known as the ‘Spa of the
South’. In all there are nine cascading waterfalls and the
water is said to have great recuperative powers. The main
fall plunging down from a height of 60 meters is just five
minutes walk from the bus stand. The best time to visit is
from June to September. There are also innumerable templs
and shrines in and around Kuttalam. The most important is
Thirukutralanathar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. An
aquarium has also been set up here recently. Madurai (160 kms.) and
Thiruvananthapuram (122 kms.) are the nearest airports for
Kuttalam. The nearest rail head is at Tenkasi, just 6 kms.

Wildlife Sanctuary (45 kms.)
This fine sanctuary in the mountains near the Kerala border was established in 1988.
the rocky peaks and forested hill are a safe have for a
rich and varied wildlife. Key fauna includes, langur,
Nilgiri langur, lion tailed macaque, sambar, chital, sloth
bear, leopard and tigerl. Best Season – Sept. to Dec.
Tenkaasi (55 kms.)
The pilgrim centre known as the ‘Kasi (Varanasi) of the South’ is famous for
the temple of Lord Shiva. It has a flag staff, which is
said to be over 400 years old.
