13 days Sri Lanka Tour

Day 01: Wattala
On arrival welcome by our representative and transfer to hotel in Wattala. Check in at hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Wattala.

Day 02: Wattala - Anuradhapura (about 190 Km / 4 hours)
After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura (a World Heritage Site), which has a history of over 2500 years. It was the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of the ancient Sri Lanka. Sri Maha Bodhi (sacred Bo-Tree) was brought as a sampling of the tree under which Prince Siddhartha attained enlighten. It is over 2,500 years old and is the oldest historically documented tree in the world. At Brazen Palace (2nd Century B.C) with its 1600 stone columns see the remains of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks. Ruwanweliseya (2nd century B.C) is the most famous of all the Dagobas and the Isurumuniya rock temple (3rd Century B.C) is known for its rock carvings.
Dinner and stay overnight in Anuradhapura.

Day 03: Anuradhapura - Sigiriya/Dambulla (about 75 Km / 1½ hours)
After breakfast, leave for Polonnaruwa, the second capital city of Sri Lanka built in the 11th and 12th centuries. Visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, Gal Viharaya where the splendid statues of the Buddha in ‘Upright’, ‘Sedentary’ and ‘Recumbent’ postures are carved out of rock, Audience Hall, Lotus Bath, statue of king Parakumbahu and Parakrama Samudraya - a lake built by King Parakumbahu. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, Lankathilake, Watadage, Galpotha, Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Later in the day visit Sigiriya, climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scuba jungle. Visit the world renowned frescos of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescos are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Dinner and stay overnight in Sigiriya/Dambulla.

Day 04: Sigiriya/Dambulla - Kandy (about 90 Km / 3 hours)
Breakfast & visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, built by King Walagambahu, in the 1st Century B.C. it is a World Heritage Site, and the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.
Leave for Kandy & en route at Matale visit a spice garden. See how the different spices grown and processed in Sri Lanka.
Afterwards leave for Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings. The name ‘Kandy’ conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore of Kandy are still lovingly kept alive. Evening, in Kandy, visit the temple of the tooth relic, for a POOJA CERAMONY, followed by a show of cultural dance performances. Dinner and stay overnight in Kandy.

Day 05: Kandy
After breakfast visits to see the popular Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Set up in 1975, you can witness and admire the wild elephants in their natural environs. Originally established with the aim of providing care and protection to orphaned elephants, this orphanage has now turned into a major tourist attraction. The various daily aspects can be viewed here, like bottle feeding baby elephants, feeding other elephants, bathing them, and so on.
In the afternoon make a city tour of Kandy. You will be driven to the outskirts of Kandy, Peradeniya, and a vibrant and verdant town. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens what Peradeniya is most famous for. One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Asia, this tourist attraction was built by King Wickramabahu III in 1371. Located on the slopes of Mahaweli River, it is renowned for its wide collection of orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. Ride back to Kandy and be fascinated by the popular destinations of the hill capital of Sri Lanka. The Kandy Lake, and Kandy town and bazaar are some interesting places to see.

Day 06: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (about 80 Km / 3 hours)
After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya, known as “Little England”. See the mountains covered with tea bushes and cascading waterfalls. En route visit a tea factory and a plantation to see the tea manufacturing process. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea. Afternoon at leisure in Nuwara Eliya. Evening make a city tour of Nuwara Eliya.

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
