Day
01. Flight to Nepal (Kathmandu)
Today
arrival in Nepal. The cosmopolitan City and the
capital
Kathmandu is the main gateway for travellers
to Nepal. You are met by an Indo Vacations
representative and transferred to your Hotel. In the
afternoon we enjoy the first impression of Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Valley is the cultural and political heart
of the country. The city enjoyed its most glorious
time under the reign of Mallas in the 16th and 17th
century. Today we visit Durbar Square.
Durbar Square
is the spiritual heart of Kathmandu. The old royal palace at the
centre of the city was surrounded by temples and other important
buildings. This is the most important point in Kathmandu to observe
the culture and religion of Nepal.
Day
02. Kathmandu Excursion: Bungamati,
Khokana, Patan
This morning we visit Bungamati and Khokana. Bungamati is a small
Newari village where the inhabitants still pursuing their old
professions of wood carving and agriculture as in the old times.
Nearby is a the other Newari village named Khokhana . Here is a
famous temple of the female deity Durga (incarnation of
Goddess
Kali). In the afternoon we drive to Patan.
Patan was the second
largest town in the valley but it has been absorbed into Kathmandu.
Patan was previously known as Lalitpur, the beautiful city. The
temple architecture here gave this city fame to be unique and most
beautiful.
Day 03. Kathmandu Excursion: Pashupatinath, Bodnath
Today we visit
the temple city of Pashupatinath which is Nepal's most
important Hindu pilgrim site on the banks of the
Bagmati river. The temple of Pashupatinath is
dedicated to god Shiva. Pashupatinath is one of the
seven most important holy cities to Hindus. After the
visit of Pashupatinath we visit Bodnath.
Bodnath is
the largest Stupa of Nepal. Around the octagonal base
of Stupa there are 108 images of Buddha where prayer
ceremonies of Buddhist Lamas are taking place since
over 2000 years.
Day 04. Kathmandu - Pokhara (about 211 kms / 6 hours)
Today we drive to Pokhara, the "gateway to the
Himalayas". The
Pokhara valley is the second largest valley in the central hilly region
of Nepal. Situated at 900 meters above sea level, all year round
pleasant temperatures and the subtropical nature is of incomparable
beauty. From here we take an amazing view of the holy mountain
Machapuchare only 30 km away which is almost 7000 meters above sea
level.
Day 05. Pokhara
Early morning sunrise tour to Sarangkot direction (if the weather
permits). After a walk of about 40 minutes, we reach the top of
Sarangkot. After Sarangkot in the afternoon we visit Rupatal.
Day 06.
Pokhara - Tansen (about
127 kms / 5 hours)
Today we drive to Tansen towards Central
Nepal. In the 16th Century Tansen was capital of the Magar kingdom
Tanahun. In the 18th Century Tansen was a Newari trading post on the
road from Pokhara to Butwal, a major trade route between India and
Mustang. After a stop in Waling we cross the Kali Gandaki river and
drive through the serpentine road up to
Srinagar Danda (1,525 m),
from where on a clear day, we have a magnificent view of Dhaulagiri
and Annapurna. We have a walk through a Newari settlement of Tansen.
Day 07.
Tansen
From Tansen we have wonderful views of the
mountains of the Himalayas. Today we visit some temples in Tansen (Bhagwati
Temple, Siddhi Binyak Temple and Laxmi Narayan Temple). Tansen was
once an important trading center, this place has able to retain much
of its original charm. We walk walk through the bazaar of Tansen and
the area from Tansen Bazaar.
Day 08.
Tansen
- Lumbini (about 85 kms / 3 hours)
Today we drive through the foothills of the Himalayas on to
Lumbini
(UNESCO World Heritage Site). The place Lumbini is regarded by
Buddhists as a sanctuary, because here some 2,500 years of Buddha
(Siddhartha Gautama Shakya) was born as a prince in a kingdom. The
famous Ashoka Pillar and the temple of Maya Devi are the monuments
of this place. Through the support of Buddhists from all over the
world Lumbini became one of the most important pilgrimage sites. We
visit the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of
Buddhism.
We take a rickshaw ride through the park (Lumbini Garden) and visit
the Mayadevi temple and one of the many monasteries.
Day 09. Lumbini
- Chitwan National Park (about 125 km / 5 hours)
Today we drive from Lumbini towards the Royal Chitwan National Park.
This National Park is situated near the Indian Nepal border. The
area of the National Park covers around 950 square km. The
Chitwan
National park is the natural habitat of the Tiger, great one-horned
Indian rhinoceros, leopard, gaur, sloth and wild bear, sambar. We
stay in a comfortable lodge. In the evening a cultural evening is
provided with folk dances.
Day 10.
Chitwan National Park
In the early morning you will have a jungle safari in the Chitwan
National Park penetrating through lush grasslands to view wildlife.
This grass is commonly known as elephant grass and is very dense and
grows to a height of 18-20 ft. In the afternoon we take a ride in
Canoe on the Narayani river where there are very good chances of
viewing the gharial crocodiles as well as the mugger crocodiles,
fresh water dolphins, Otters and varieties of water birds.
Day 11.
Chitwan - Daman (about
130 kms / 5 hours)
After the Jungle Activities we have taken place in the early hours
in the Chitwan National Park, we drive to Daman. On the way from the
2400m high pass, we have a clear view of the entire Dhaulagiri
massif from up to Mount Everest.
Day 12.
Daman
- Dhulikhel (about
160 kms / 6 hours)
Today begins the journey back towards capital Kathamandu. On the way
to Kathmandu we stay one night in Duhlikhel. This place is situated
at 1650 m altitude and offers a good weather, stunning views of the
Himalayas.
Day 13.
Dhulikhel - Kathmandu (about
70 kms / 2 hours)
Today morning we visit Dhulikhel. Then we drive to Kathmandu. In the
afternoon we visit Dakshinkali Temple. The temple of Dakshinkali is
a Hindu pilgrimage site and place of sacrifice of the dreaded
goddess Kali. In this temple of the goddess Kali (reincarnation of
Goddess Durga) are now housed in Dakshinkali twice a week (Tuesdays
and Saturdays) nor animal sacrifice.
Day 14.
Kathamndu - Himalaya Flight / Kathmandu
Optional: In the Morning Himalayan scenic flight
costs, currently about $ 160 per person including airport transfer
(highest mountains in the world).
During the afternoon, depending on your departure time, transfer is
provided from the hotel to the airport.
