Day 01: Kolkata (Arrival)
Around midnight
arrival in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta). Kolkata is India’s
largest city and one of the biggest city in south Asia. Upon
arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative and
transferred to the hotel.

Day 02:
Kolkata - Gaya (by train)
Kolkata is the largest
city in India and one of the largest cities in all of
Asia. Historically, Kolkata was one of the first English settlements
in India, and the capital of the British Crown Colony for a
long time. We explore this fascinating city on a full day
sightseeing tour. We admire the Victoria Memorial and the splendid
buildings in the Chowringhee area. We visit the Dalhousie Square, a
Jain temple and Fort Williams. In the quarter Joransanko we take a
look at the former home of the world famous Indian poet Rabindranath
Tagore. Later in the evening night train in air-conditioned sleeper
to Gaya.

Day 03:
Gaya - Bodhgaya (about 16 km)
Arrival
at Gaya railway station. Upon arrival you will be transferred to
Bodhgaya. Bodhgaya (once Uruvela village) is the place where 2500 years ago in
the 6th century BC, a young ascetic, Siddhartha attained
enlightenment to become the Buddha and found Buddhism, one of the
world's oldest religions. Bodhgaya is the spiritual home of the
Buddhists.

Day 04: Bodhgaya -
Nalanda - Rajgir (about 105 km)
Today after
having breakfast we drive to Rajgir and enroute we visit Nalanda,
the ancient Buddhist university. After visiting Nalanda we drive further to Rajgir. During the
lifetime of the Buddha, Rajgir (Rajgriha) was the capital of the powerful Magadhan kingdom, ruled by the virtuous king Bimbisara. This town attracts various pilgrims and tourists.

Day 05: Rajgir
After breakfast depart
for sightseeing of Rajgir. Today we will visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. It is a marble structure with niches bearing
golden images of the Buddha, built by the Nipponza Myohoji sect of
Japan. We visit Gridhakutta, Jeevak Hospital, Jail and Bimbisar
Venuvana. The evening is free for own activities.

Day 06: Rajgir - Vaishali (about 190 km)
Morning drive
to Vaishali. In the afternoon we visit the Ashoka Pillar and the
Museum Square.

Day 07: Vaishali
- Kushinagar
(about 235 km)
Morning drive to
khushinagara, an important Buddhist pilgrimage center, the place
where the Buddha died and was cremated in the "paranirvana" was
received. The entire area has been converted into a memorial. We
visit the Mahaparinirvana temple (the reclining Buddha statue), the
Mata Kunwar shrine with a Buddha sculpture from the 10th Century and
the Rambar stupa where Buddha's ashes and other relics were divided
into 8 equal parts.

Day 08: Kushinagar - Lumbini
In the Morning after
breakfast we drive to Lumbini. Lumibini is a village in Nepal near
the Indian border.

Day 09: Lumbini - Kapilvastu - Sravasti (280 km)
In the morning
we drive to Kapilvastu, once the center of the Shakya clan, where
Siddhartha (Buddha) spent his childhood and made "trips" with his
charioteer, who encouraged him to think about the meaning of
life. We visit some excavations. Drive to Saravasti , a small
village in Nepal near the Indian border.

Day 10: Sravasti - Sarnath - Varanasi (275 km)
Early morning we
start for Varanasi. It is going to be a long drive and we will
reach Varanasi in
the evening. Varanasi is without doubt India’s most sacred city and
thus visited by over one million people. Varanasi is also called the
city of light. Buddha visited this city in 500 BC.

Day 11: Varanasi
In the early
morning we take a boat ride on the holy river Ganges and enjoy
sunrise on the boat. Ghats (flight
of steps) and the activities of pilgrims on that are the principal
attraction for visitors to Varanasi. Thousands of pilgrims and
devotees visit this city to make holy prayers, to meditate and to
purify themselves through taking a bath in the holy river Ganges. In
the noon we visit the city of Varanasi.
Optional: A drive can be organized to Sarnath (10
km). Sarnath is the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon at
deer park.

Day 12: Varanasi - Delhi (by air)
In the afternoon we drive to the airport to
catch the flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo
Vacations representative and transferred to the hotel.

Day 13: Flight to home
