The heritage of
Gujarat is very old and vibrant. In the Gujarat Heritage tour you will
visit the various heritage places of Gujarat like Bhuj, Mandvi and
Ahmedabad. Bhuj, a flourishing walled city is the most important
town in the Kutch area. This place is a paradise of handicrafts and
lifestyle lovers. There are some villages in Bhuj which are rich in
craft and culture. During this tour we visit the various villages in
the Bhuj area and experience the traditional lifestyle of the tribal
people in these villages.
Day 1: Bhuj
In the morning arrive at
Bhuj. The old walled city of Bhuj presents a picture of contrasts with its narrow streets and ancient monuments in the vicinity of the planned township of Gandhidham and the modern port of Kandla. In the evening arrive in Bhuj and drive to the hotel.
Day 2: Bhuj
In the morning we visit the
Aina
Mahal Palace. This palace is the 18th century creation of Rao Lakhpatji, who specially sent a local craftsman to Europe to perfect his skills in glassmaking and iron founding and constructed the Aina Mahal with its hall of mirror of Venetian glass. The hall of Mirror has white marble walls covered with mirrors and glided ornaments and the floor is lined with tiles, with a platform above it surrounded by a series of fountains. After visiting the temple we visit the various nearby villages in Bhuj and watch the tribal life of the people.
Day 3: Bhuj - Mandvi
In the morning we drive to
Mandvi. Mandvi is located on the banks of the Rukmavati river, barely one km away from the Arabian Sea at the Gulf of Kutch. The town was a summer retreat of the Kutch Maharaos. The town was established in the late sixteenth century and is attributed to the first Jadeja ruler of Kutch – Rao Khengarji. Mandvi was a originally a fortified town having a fort wall of about 8 m high and 1.2 wide stone masonary. Overnight stay at the hotel in Mandvi.
Day 4: Mandvi - Ahmedabad
In the morning we visit the
Vijay Vilas Palace. This royal palace is set in the middle of well laid gardens with water channels and marble fountains. The architect and craftsmen from Jaipur designed and constructed the palace in 1920 AD. The central high dome on the pillars, the Bengal domes on sides, the windows with coloured glass, carved stone jails, domed bastions at the corners, extended porch and the other exquisitely stone carved elements, are the worth visiting elements in the palace. After visiting the palace we drive to
Ahmedabad. In the night transfer to the airport or railway station.
