Heli Skiing
Heli-Skiing is the most famous adventure sports for
the high mountain thrills. This adventure sport is available
in the Hanuman Tibba, Rohtang Pass, Deo Tibba and Chanderkhani Pass near Manali. Heli-skiing
is an expensive sport because participants are taken
to high snow draped peaks or ridges by the
helicopter and dropped there. It is a thrilling
experience as the skier rapidly zooms down the
slopes. |

Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa
The Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa
is located in the Tibetan area around the bottom of the Mall in Manali.
This Gompa was built by the Tibetan refugees in the late 1960.
This Gompa is
covered with brightly coloured frescoes and a mid size
Buddhist statue. It also carries a list of the
martyrs killed in the war from 1987 to 1989.
Hidimba Devi Temple
The Hidimba or Dhungiri
temple is one of the most important temple in
Manali. This four storey wooden temple is located in the middle of a forest
called the Dhungiri Van Vihar.

Manali Sanctuary
The Manali sanctuary is located in
Manali. This sanctuary covers an area of 3,180 hectares. The sanctuary was notified on 26th February
1954, under the Punjab Birds and Wild Animals Protection Act,
1933. The
Malana valley is located in Manali below
Chanderkhani Pass, at an altitude of 276 m. This
small valley is a little hub of hundred houses of
1000 tribals.

Mountaineering Institute
The Mountaineering Institute at Manali provides training facilities for basic and advance climbing
to the Indian nationals and foreigners. This
institute also conducts various adventurous sports activities like high altitude trekking, minor mountaineering, rock-climbing, skiing, and high altitude rescue
and relief courses. The institute has sufficient lodging and boarding arrangements and equipment can be hired for trekking purposes. |
