Peermede |
Peermede is the famous plantation town
in the Idukki district of Kerala. Peermede takes its
name from Peer Mohammed, Sufi saint and closely
associated with the erstw hile royal family of Travancore.
Wide area of tea, cardamom, rubber and coffee
plantations interspersed with silver cascades,
sculptural rocks, meadows and mist-cloaked hilltops offer immense possibilities for trekkers and nature enthusiasts.
The most delightful trekking trails complement the
panoramic landscape. The monuments like the summer palace
and summer residence of the royal family add to the splendour of the land. The summer residence has been now
converted into the government guest house under the
Department of Tourism, and offers comfortable
accommodation. The weather is cool at Peermede all
through the year due to its altitude and can be visited at any
time of the year.

picturesque plantation town, washed in the fragrance of cardamom
is surrounded by the lush, green hills.
Peeru Hills, the idyllic hill station is a favourite place of
trekkers and picnickers.
Grampi, also known as Parunthupara (eagle rock) is known so due
to the panoramic view from its high peaks.
