Day 01: Flight to Srilanka (Kalpitiya)
Today arrival in Kalpitiya.
Upon arrival you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative and
transferred
to beach hotel in Kalpitiya.
Rest
of the day at leisure.
Overnight stay in Kalpitiya.
Day 02: Kalpitiya – Anuradhapura (about 32 kms)
Breakfast at the hotel. Later visit Anuradhapura, the first capital
of the island dating from the 4th century BC. See the sacred Boo
Tree, world famous Samadhi Buddha, the remains of the Brazen Palace
and rock carvings. Visit Mihintale, the town where Buddhism first
overwhelmed the people of Sri Lanka.
Overnight Stay in Anuradhapura.
Day 03: Anuradhapura - Dambulla / Sigiriya
(about 45 kms)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we visit Polonnaruwa, the
medieval capital and a World Heritage Site. This second capital city
of Sri Lanka was built in the 11th and 12th
centuries. We visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, Lotus Bath and
Polonnaruwa Statue and visit the Gal Vihare which is splendid
statues of the Buddha carved out of rock. Overnight stay in Dambulla
/ Sigiriya.
Optional: Jeep safari at Kaudulla National Park to see the
wildlife & /OR an elephant back safari into the jungle at Habarana.
Day 04: Dambulla / Sigiriya
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress
which is a World Heritage site of 5th century AD, built
by the King Kashyapa. Its home to water gardens, frescoes, ancient
graffiti and commands an amazing view of Sri Lanka’s greenery.
Afterwards we visit the Dambulla rock cave temple built by king
Walagambahu, in the 1st Century B.C. it is a World
Heritage Site, and the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples.
Overnight stay in Dambulla / Sigiriya.
Day 05: Dambulla / Sigiriya - Kandy (about 44
kms)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we leave for Kandy. En
route to Kandy we visit a specie garden at Matale to learn about
species and their use in Sri Lankan cuisines. In the evening enjoy a
cultural show. Experience the home stay in Kandy.
Day 06: Kandy
Breakfast at the home stay. After breakfast we visit to see temple
of tooth relic and afterwards we visit the elephant orphanage in
Pinnawela, established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Today
some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their
grandchildren born in the same location. In the afternoon we have a
sightseeing tour in Kandy. We visit an arts and crafts work shop,
oriental market place, a bazaar and a gem lapidary where you can see
how rough gems (particularly the famous Blue & Star sapphires) are
mined cut and polished using traditional methods.
Experience the home stay in Kandy.
Day 07: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (about 47 kms)
Breakfast at the home stay. Today we visit the Royal Botanical
Gardens at Peradeniya and in the afternoon drive through scenic
mountains to Nuwara Eliya, well known as “Little England”. We stop
at the mountains covered with tea bushes and at waterfalls. Enjoy
the magnificent landscape. Then we visit a tea factory, follow the
tea trails to watch the interesting process and enjoy a freshly
brewed cup of Ceylon tea.
Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 08: Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy your breakfast in the misty climate of the hill country. Today
we have an excursion to Horton Plains, better known as the “World’s
End” for a nature trail. Variety of birds & butterfly life, flora &
fauna etc. could be seen. Afternoon at leisure to explore Nuwara
Eliya by yourself.
Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 09: Nuwara Eliya - Kataragama / Yala
(about 90 kms)
Enjoy your breakfast in the hill country’s cool climate, and stroll
through the tea plantation to see tea plucking. In the afternoon we
leave for Tissa. En route we visit Ella Gap. We enjoy a jeep safari
at Yala national park which is the largest in Sri Lanka and is home
to wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer
and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are
also found here.
Overnight stay in Kataragama / Yala.
Day 10: Kataragama / Yala
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we enjoy a jeep safari at
Yala national park which is the largest in Sri Lanka and is home to
wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer
and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are
also found here.
Overnight stay in Kataragama / Yala.
Day 11: Kataragama / Yala – Beach Resort
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we visit the Kataragama
Hindu temple where people of all religions come as pilgrims. Later
we leave for the beach resort. We travel through Tangalle and Matara.
Enroute at Koggala to see the stilt fishermen seated on poles
mounted. In Galle we visit the Dutch Fort.
Dinner and overnight stay in your beach resort in South Coast.
Day 12: Beach Resort
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we have a ˝ day excursion to
Bentota. We enjoy a boat trip in River Madhu to see village life.
Then we visit a turtle hatchery, mask factory etc. Afternoon relax
by the Indian Ocean.
Dinner and overnight stay in your beach resort in the south coast.
Day 13: Beach Resort - Colombo (about 142 kms)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we have a sightseeing tour
in Colombo, which includes Fort, Pettah, Sea Street and the Town
Hall etc. Discover the city & explore the shopping malls, such as
House of Fashion, Odel, etc. Night life lovers visit Casinos, Discos
etc. & enjoy Colombo’s entertainment and nightlife.
Overnight stay at Hotel in Colombo.
Day 14: Flight to Home
Breakfast at the hotel and leave for the Airport for the onwards
flight.
