Adventure sports are means of entertainment and pleasure and are very different and interesting. These adventure sports are the sports of royals in the time of Maharajas. Rajasthan is very uninteresting from the point of view of sports from one sight, these adventure activities were mostly promoted during the time of Maharajas. Rajputs who were very skilled fighters were always able to develop their riding skills in the matter of competitive sports; Rajputs form one of the best polo teams. Villagers also take part in these types of activities which are now a days known by the name of adventure sports like horse and camel races, other adventure competitions and cart carriages races etc.  Horse Polo was also played in Rajasthan. And also various safaris and safari camps were also organised in Rajasthan. Afterwards during the British Period golf was also commenced in Rajasthan. Now a days adventure sports lovers have found sports activities in the countryside, sports like ballooning, para-sailing, Horse riding, and also other leisure activities like desert rallies, safaris, Horse Polo, Bicycling etc. In Rajasthan water-related sports of different types are also organized in the extensive water bodies in Rajasthan.
 

Camel Safari in Rajasthan

Camel Safaris take place in Rajasthan to give one an experience of the golden sands of huge Thar desert and feral countryside, which gives one a clear glimpse of the earlier days. Now a days also, most of the voyages are done on camel carts or on camel back.

Tourists have no difficulty about their comfort and convenience in the desert of the Rajasthan as these camel-carts are completely prepared.  Camel Safaris are organized in the area of Shekhawati, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pushkar, Bikaner, and Nagaur. These camel safaris are generally run by experts who hire Raikas. For camel safaris in Rajasthan, the camel breeders of Raika are the excellent guides. These camel breeders are very much familiar with each and every area, waterhole and village of the region and can find the best routes for the camel safaris.  These safaris cover a distance of about 40 kms per day and it can be adjusted as per the need of the person. Best time to do camel safari is in the morning and evening. And the Best season for a camel safari is during winters.

Elephant Safari in Rajasthan

Elephant Safari is one of the most royal means to visit Rajasthan; This Safari cannot be compared with any other sport, it truly depicts royalty. In the earlier times most of the royal members used elephants for their trips which were very well equipped with traditional items and also a traditional umbrella over their heads. Safaris of these days are very different from those of previous days.  Elephant walks very slowly, so an elephant safari is the best option to visit the wild life sanctuaries and other towns of Rajasthan. Elephant safari camps are very wonderful and the tourists will have an amazing experience as compared to any other activity or place. Elephant safari will also give a chance to experience the royal past of Rajasthan.

Jeep Safaris are an ideal way to visit Rajasthan, mostly during winters. Safari means discovering the lesser known places and areas, away from the roads. Jeep Safaris are organized in the areas of Shekhawati and around Udaipur in Rajasthan since the rocky landscape with the forested valleys, hills and desert provides an amazing site. Horse Polo in Rajasthan

Polo is the most interesting sport of Rajasthan, it excites even a spectator who has very little knowledge about it. Polo teams are located at Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaipur. To play the game of Polo a large number of special type of horses are required, it is not possible to play polo without these. These horses are generally maintained by the players themselves, or with the help of their supports. In the game of Horse Polo, the men on the horses move the ball with their sticks. This sport requires very much skill and talent.

Camel Polo is mostly played on various occassions and festivals of Rajasthan. It is a very competitive sport. Camel Polo sport is played only in the state of Rajasthan. Horse Safari in Rajasthan
The horse safaris are very interesting sport played in the state of Rajasthan. Most historic way to travel around Rajasthan is through horse safaris, it truly makes one feel like the heroic soldier of the ancient times. Mostly Horse safaris are organized in Udaipur, the hilly landscape of the Udaipur are perfect place for Horse safari.

The route of Horse Safari is very different which passes through the villages, shrines and monuments.  In the ancient times the Rajputs were very skilled in Horse riding and this custom was implemented from the earlier times. Bicycling

Bicycle is one of the most famous and popular means of transport in Rajasthan. Travelling on Bicycle is a very cheap and it also provide exercise and leisure to the traveller without any tiredness. One can hire Bicycles anywhere in Rajasthan from a few hours to few days. Those who wish to perform some serious biking in the state, it is advisable for them to buy racy, gear bicycles which they buy from all major towns. These type of bicycles are not very expensive. These bicycles are either sold or simply gifted away at the end of the trip. These Bicycles are perfect to experience the landscape in Shekhawati or one can also explore the hilly places such as Mount Abu.  In the area of Shekhawati the game of bicycle polo is very famous. Bicycling is very interesting sport as the horse Polo.


Cart Races

Cart Races takes place in sandy terrain and pulled by the camels. The camel carts are especially ornamented for the special events and during the festivals, with buntings and streamers. Camel cart races are fun, and provide lot of enthusiasm and happiness to the people. Camels can be made to run fast, and as they lope ahead, the carts seem to jump behind to keep pace with the creatures.


Tonga Races

In most of the towns of Rajasthan Tonga or Horse Chariot are used as a mode of transport, it is very environment-friendly mode of transport. These mode of transport are very slow but their fastness can be tested only during the fairs when Tonga races are conducted. The owners ride the carriage in these races; when they passes through the sandy countryside they make an amazing sight.

Elephant Polo

In Rajasthan, the game of Polo is also played on the back of elephants. The game of Polo draw attention of people from all over as it is a fast game and it is played on the elephants who can move as fast in the space of a stadium. It is not a serious sport.  To watch the game of elephant polo is very funny and entertaining. The game of the elephant is conducted in Jaipur on the occassion of Holi (February-March) at Chaugan Stadium. This game can also be organized specially on request.


Kite-Flying

Kite Flying is very well-known in Jaipur and the city also has community clubs where the sport is enthusiastically practiced. Mostly the kites are flied here during the festival of Makar Sankranti and also during monsoon. However, the kite-flying continues throughout the year. Makar Sankranti is a very prominent festival of kite flying which is celebrated with great zeal and zest in Jaipur. Skies of the city are alive with kites whole day on Makar Sankranti. On this day people assemble at rooftops of their houses to enjoy this festival and to compete with each other. On the day of Makar Sankranti an international kite flying competition is also organized in Jaipur.    


Golf

The sport of Golf was very famous in British India, it was the game of gentlemen. There is no course in Rajasthan and due to shortage of water, it was even not easy to have the small green garden. In Jaipur, a golf-course was built by Maharaja Man Singh. The 18-hole golf-course is the only golf-course in Jaipur and Rajasthan which are preserved very well in the scenic surroundings. Golf course of Jaipur and the Golf course of Bikaner are very different from each other. Golf course of Jaipur exists in the desert landscape, and also the ‘greens’ are replaced by ‘browns’ which are very unusual.
 

Ballooning

Sand dunes of Rajasthan are ideal for the purpose of ballooning. People can also travel short distances between towns by using these ballons. One can easily find these balloons during various fairs and festivals which are organized in Rajasthan like Baneshwar Fair, Nagaur Fair, Pushkar fair etc.

Para-Sailing

Parasailing is a leisure activity, in this sport a person is pulled behind a vehicle while attached to a well designed parachute which is known as a parasail. This sport is not tried out in Rajasthan in the sandy countryside. This sport is very costly to conduct. Parasailing takes place annually in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Pushkar and attracts a large number of tourists from all over.


Gliding

The sport of gliding can be conducted very well in the open countryside of Rajasthan. The gliding can be organized only with the prior approval of civil aviation authorities, and can be conducted in various cities where there are no scheduled services, runways and strips. The sport of Gliding is conducted Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur.


Desert Rallies

Initially when the motorcars were launched in India, people from royal families were the first to order them. No doubt the state of Rajasthan has a wide network of roads that connects even small towns and villages. These, in turn, have become the venue for various rallies. The sport of Desert Rallies is the pride of Rajasthan, given the highly challenging conditions, tough stages and spectacular terrain, ranging from desert stretches and vast salt flats to deceptively simple dirt tracks.


Vintage Car Rally

Vintage Car Rally takes place every year in the month of January at Jaipur. Various people take part in this rally. Vintage car rallies are a very amazing sight not only for the cars but also for the whole area in which the event takes place. This rally celebrates the existence of vintage cars which look royal and very attractive.
The Maharajas in Rajasthan have very much desire for automobiles and they generally import cars from Europe & America. Their attraction for cars is disclosed in this Vintage Car Rally.
Main attraction of this Rally are old model vintage cars of ancient times. A car is believed to be Vintage if it is manufactured before 1939.
In this Rally, vintage cars are driven at a very high speed while maintaining safety on the roads. In addition to Jaipur this rally is also conducted in Jodhpur.


Desert Safari

A safari is a journey into the desert with all comforts, amenities and luxuries. As each journey progresses, there is very much enthusiasm of setting camp at a new spot in the lonely wilderness of the Thar desert, of being entertained by groups of nomadic people, enjoying the camp meals and sleeping in the night under the stars.  Desert Safari is a very popular sport in Rajasthan as the roads of Rajasthan are very remote, with very little traffic, as such they are perfect for such sporting events. These rallies can be organized on special request to the rally organizations in India.

Trekking

In addition to the Himalayas or the Ghats, the hilly areas of Rajasthan also provide the opportunity of trekking. The Mewar belt along with Udaipur-Kumbahlgarh-Chittorgarh, or the Sariska-Alwar-Amer belt or the area around Mount Abu are ideal for trekking. Best season for trekking is during the winters, although trekking can also be done during monsoons. It is also best to trek in small groups. Trekkers can also set up a camp in the open landscape, although various hotels are also available in most of the areas. In addition to trekking routes, one can also make his own tracks, moving practically as one likes.
 

Camping

Camping means special created tents which have all the amenities and comforts such as bedroom, attached bath and also other leisure facilities. Hand-made printed fabrics are used with the interiors of these camps which gives a very amazing look. One can found these types of camps in the places like Samode, Pushkar etc. These tents can also be hired by people for their stay. At these camps every activity is very interesting.
