The Hotel Silver Oaks was built in 1930 as
the family home of a leading British Jute Magnate, Mr. John
Mason. The property later moved on to Mr. Frederick Desraj, a
prominent architect of Old Kalimpong and the Teesta Bridge.
Finally, the Silver Oaks was acquired by the Elgin Heritage
Group of Hotels and build the first floor as a natural
extension of the old style of architecture. The restoration
work was completed in about five years.

multi cuisine restaurant and has a seating capacity for one
hundred people. Candle light dinners and the glow of the old
fire places and the music on piano provide a memorable
evening. The Oak Bar is a well stocked bar and a large choice
of cocktails and snacks are available in this bar.
