Day 01: Delhi (Arrival)
Around midnight arrival in Delhi. Upon arrival, you will be
met by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Delhi - Bagdogra (by air) - Gangtok
In the morning you will drive to the airport for the flight to
Bagdogra. After the arrival in Bagdogra you will proceed
through the coniferous forests and terraced tea gardens to
Gangtok which is the capital city of Sikkim. Upon arrival, you
will be transferred to the hotel in Gangtok. In the evening
you will visit Orchid Sanctuary which is laying south of the
institute. This sanctuary contains over 450 indigenous
species.
Day 03: Gangtok
Today you will drive to the Enchey monastery. This monastery
is believed to be 200 years old. The monks of this monastery
belong to the Mahayana Buddhism. After visiting the monastery
you will visit the institute of cottage industries. It is the
main attraction as a wide range of local handicrafts in Lepcha
style are produced here. In the evening you will visit the
unique Research Institute of Tibetology on a hilltop which was
established in 1958 to promote research on Tibet and Mahayana
Buddhism.
Day 04: Gangtok - Yuksom (about 133 Km)
In the morning you will visit the Rumtek monastery. Rumtek
monastery was built as a true copy of a tibetan monastery in
recent years. Rumtek is the headquarter of Red hat sect of
tibetan lamaistic Buddhism. Later drive to Yuksom. Enroute you
will come across some tea estates and coniferous forests. In
the evening arrive in Yuksom.
Day 05: Yuksom - Tshoka
Today you will begin your trekking tour from Yuksom to Tshoka.
Yuksom is also the trekking base of Sikkim. Yuksom was the
first capital of Sikkim and it was here that the first Chogyal
was consecrated by the three holy Lamas. On the way you will
come across the sky embracing trees and meadows and meandering
past huts. After a six to seven hours long trekking you will
reach Tshoka and have an overnight stay there only.
Day 06: Tshoka
The day is free to have rest and explore the surroundings in
Tshoka.
Day 07: Tshoka - Dzongri
Today you will begin your trekking to Dzongri. From Tshoka the
trekking to Dzongri will be for about four to five hours. By
the afternoon you will be able to reach Dzongri. From the
Dzongri Pass the view of the mountain ranges is heavenly. In
the front you will be able to view the Kabur Dome and piercing
the sky is the Mount Pandim. In the north you will be able to
view Mount Kanchenjunga and the other mountain peaks.
Overnight stay in Dzongri.
Day 08: Dzongri
The day is free to have rest and explore the surroundings in
Dzongri.
Day 09: Dzongri - Tshoka
Today in the morning you will begin your trekking from Dzongri
back to Tshoka. Overnight stay at Tshoka.
Day 10: Tshoka - Yuksom
Today you will return back to your trekking base camp at
Yuksom. After a six to seven hours long trekking you will
reach Yuksom and have an overnight stay there only.
Day 11: Yuksom - Bagdogra - Delhi (by air)
In the morning after having breakfast you will drive to
Bagdogra for the flight to New Delhi. In the evening arrive in
New Delhi. Rooms are available to get refresh before departing
for the airport. The rest of the day at leisure.
Day 12: Delhi (Departure)
Around midnight flight to home destination.
