Day 01: Flight to India (Delhi)
Around midnight arrival in Delhi. You will be met by our
representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Delhi - Bhubaneshwar (by air)
In the morning flight to Bhubaneshwar. In the afternoon you
will visit some of the finest examples of the classical temple
architecture including Lingraj, Rajrani and Mukteshwar
temples.
Day 03: Bhubaneshwar - Konark - Puri (about 70 km)
Today you will drive through the tropical coastal area to the
famous Temples of Konark. The world famous Surya Temple which
was dedicated to God Surya (sun) was build in the 13th
century. In the afternoon drive to Puri. Puri is considered
the most sacred city in Orissa. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 04: Puri
Today you will visit the various temples in Puri. The temple
of Jagannath (God Vishnu), who is considered the preserver of
the world in Hinduism, attracts thousands on feast every day.
It’s an experience to observe the activities of the pilgrims
visiting this unique temple.
Day 05: Puri - Bhubaneshwar (about 70 km) - Kolkata (by
air)
In the early morning drive from Puri to Bhubaneshwar. Today
you will have flight from Bhubaneshwar to Kolkata (formerly
Calcutta). Transfer to the hotel in Kolkata. The rest of the
day at leisure.
Day 06: Kolkata
Today you will explore this vibrant and lively city during the
whole day tour and visit the Victoria Memorial and magnificent
buildings in the area of Chowringhee and Dalhousie Square,
Jain Temple, Fort Williams. In the area of Joransanko you will
have the opportunity to visit the family house of the famous
Indian writer Rabindranath Tagore.
Day 07: Kolkata - Bagdogra (by air) - Darjeeling (about
100 km)
Late morning flight from Kolkata to Bagdogra. After the
arrival in Bagdogra you will proceed north of the state
through the coniferous forests and terraced tea gardens and
arrive in Darjeeling. By clear weather we can enjoy the
unforgettable views of Himalayas.
Day 08: Darjeeling Excursion: Tiger Hill
Very early in the morning you will drive to Tiger Hill (around
11 km, 1 hour) to enjoy the sunrise at the Tiger hill. In the
afternoon you will explore Darjeeling and its surroundings.
You will visit the village Lablong and the institute of
mountaineering where you will get the detailed information
about the natural surrounding and its habitants of this area.
Day 09: Darjeeling - Pemayangtse (about 80 km)
Today you will leave the state of West Bengal and enter into
the state of Sikkim. You will drive through the forests and
tea gardens and proceed to Pemayangtse (The perfect Sublime
Lotus). You will visit the headquarter of the Nyingama sect in
Pemmayangtse.
Day 10: Pemayangtse - Gangtok (about 120 km)
You will visit Tsuk-la-Khang, the royal chapel which is
standing on a high bridge. This is the major place of worship
and has a large and impressive collection of scriptures. You
will also visit the institute of cottage industries which is
an attraction as a wide range of local handicrafts in Lepcha
style are produced here.
Day 11: Gangtok Excursion: Enchey Monastery
Today you will drive to the monastery of Enchey. After the
visit of Enchey monastery you will proceed to Martham Village
Resort, where you will have afternoon at leisure. Here one can
have nice walks or have a ride on the local horses of this
area.
Day 12: Gangtok Excursion: Rumtek Monastery
Today you will visit the unique Research Institute of
Tibetology on a hilltop which was established in 1958 to
promote research on Tibet and Mahayana Buddhism. Here you will
see the biggest collection of Tibetan scripts and an excellent
collection of rare Tankhas, bronze and cult objects. You will
also visit orchid Sanctuary which is laying south of the
institute. This Sanctuary contains over 450 indigenous
species. After the visit of sanctuary you will walk through
the bazaar of Gangtok through the area of old palace and visit
the monastery Gylwa. The main attraction of your excursion
remains today the monastery of Rumtek. Rumtek monastery was
built as a true copy of a Tibetan monastery in recent years.
Rumtek is the headquarter of Red hat sect of tibetan lamaistic
Buddhism.
Day 13: Gangtok - Kalimpong (about 70 km)
Today you will drive through the south of Sikkim from Gangtok
to Kalimpong. Here you will visit the monastery Tharpa
Choeling at Tripai which houses a library of Tibetan
manuscripts and Tankhas. It belongs to the yellow Hat sect.
Later you will drive up to Darpin Dara, the highest point in
Kalimpong with superb views over the plains.
Day 14: Kalimpong - Bagdogra (about 80 km) - Delhi (by
air)
Later, you will drive through the Teesta Valley back to
Bagdogra. In the afternoon flight from Bagdogra to Delhi. The
rest of the day at leisure.
Day 15: Delhi
This morning is at leisure. Afternoon sightseeing in Old
Delhi. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat", the place
where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, Jama Masjid, the great
mosque of old Delhi, “Humayun Tomb”, India Gate and some
impressive Government Buildings.
Day 16: Delhi (Departure)
Around midnight flight to Home Destination.
