Day 01: Dibrugarh - Tinsukia
(about 48 kms) In the morning arrive at
Dibrugarh airport.
Upon arrival you will be met by Indo Vacations representative
and drive to Tinsukia.
Day 02: Tinsukia - Dibru-Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary - Tinsukia
(about 86 kms) Today after having our breakfast we will drive to
Dibru-Saikhowa
Wildlife Sanctuary. This wildlife sanctuary is the best place to
view birds like marsh Babbler, Black-throated Parrotbill, Rutousvented (Swamp) Prinia and
Bushcat. This
sanctuary was set up in the year 1986 to protect their fast
disappearing habitats. Other interesting resident and migrant
birds such as Pale-Capped Pigeon, White-tailed Ruby throat and
Black-breasted Thrush can be seen. After having bird watching,
we drive back to Tinsukia.
Day 03:
Tinsukia - Deban (about 170 kms)
In the morning we will visit
the Dibru-Saikhowa sanctuary and look for different birds.
Afterwards we return back to hotel and later drive to Deban in Namdapha National Park.
Namdapha National Park is situated in Arunachal Pradesh in the
extreme north east of India. Its avifauna is a unique blend of
Himalayan, Sino-Tibetan and Indo-Burmese forms. Although not
thoroughly explored, 665 species of birds have been recorded
within the state. Fabulous species such as Blyth Tragopan,
Wardsa Trogon, Rufous necked Hornbill, Blue-Naped Pitta,
Wedge-billed wren Babbler, Snowy throated Babbler and beautiful
Nuthatch are found in this remote region. Overnight stay in the Forest Rest House.
Day 04: Deban - Hornbill
Today we will have trekking from
Deban to Hornbill and look for different birds like
Rufous necked Hornbill, Blue-Naped Pitta, Wedge-billed wren
Babbler and Snowy throated Babbler. Overnight stay in camp.
Day 05: Hornbill -
Beyond Bulbulia - Hornbill
Today
we will have trekking from Hornbill to Beyond Bulbulia and later
drive back to Hornbill. Here we will see the beautiful nuthatch,
Green cochoa, Pin-tailed green imperial pigeon, Black-headed
shrike babbler, Snowy-throated, White hooded babbler, Wreathed
hornbill etc. Overnight stay in camp.
Day 06:
Hornbill - Deban
Today we
will trek back from Hornbill to Deban. Overnight stay in forest
rest house.
Day 07: Deban - Digboi (about 172 kms)
Today we will drive from
Deban to Digboi. Digboi is situated in
eastern Assam. Digboi is known for the major oil field reserve
set up by the Indian Oil Corporation.
Day 08: Digboi
Today we will
explore the nature reserve set up by the Indian Oil Cooperation
to protect the lowland forest in and around the oldest operating
oilfield in the world. It still harbours an excellent array of
birds like Orient, White-Checked Partridge, Grey Peacock
Pheasant and Wreathed Hornbill etc.
Day 09:
Digboi - Kaziranga National Park (about 300 kms)
In
the morning after having breakfast we drive to Kaziranga National Park.
After reaching Kaziranga National Park we drive to the hotel. In the
evening we enjoy birding in the tea gardens attached to Panbari reserve.
Day
10: Kaziranga National Park
Today we will
enjoy the whole day watching the birds in Kaziranga National
Park. Kaziranga National Park is famous due to the presence of
the Indian Rhinoceros. It is probably the best place to see the
endangered Bengal Florican, Swamp Francolin and Greater and
Lesser Adjutant and also the graceful Black-necked stork. There
is good population of Pallas and Grey-headed Fish Eagles as well
as Pied Harrier.
Day 11: Kaziranga National Park
Today we will enjoy the bird watching in the Kaziranga National
Park.
Day 12: Kaziranga National Park - Panbari Reserve - Pobitora Wildlife
Sanctuary (about 160 kms)
Today we will drive to Panbari
reserve and enjoy the bird watching. Panbari woodland
is degraded but still holds good birds. Asian Fairy Bluebird,
Black-crested Bulbul, Abbott and Puff-throated Babblers along
with Pale-chinned Flycatcher, Oriental and Great Hornbills are
the various birds which are found in this region. After enjoying
the bird watching we drive to the Pobitora Wildlife sanctuary.
Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 13: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary - Guwahati (about 50 kms)
Today
we will enjoy the bird watching at Pobitora. Pobitora is a small
16 square km wildlife Sanctuary. A rear sighting of the highly
endangered Rufousvented Prinia of the eastern population and
Swamp Prinia (burnesii) Cinerascens have been reported from the
grasslands here. In the late afternoon drive to Guwahati.
Day 14:
Guwahati
Today
we will enjoy the bird watching at Deepor Beel. Deepor
Beel is an extensive wetland within the municipal limits of
Guwahati. This lake is one of the largest in lower Assam. Many
water birds are found here like Ferruginous Pochard, Grey-headed
lapwing, Greater and Lesser Adjutants, Water Cock, Cinnamon
Bittern, Fulvous whistling-duck and Greater Painted-snipe.
Day 15:
Guwahati
The morning is at leisure in
Guwahati. After lunch transfer to
the airport for the onwards journey.
