11 Days Ladakh Trekking Tour is a wonderful trekking tour which is not much frequently visited by the adventure lovers. From Dat, you can approach to the high Tibetan plateau. The best period is from July to September. This tour starts from Hemis and passes through Shang Sumdo, Latza Kongmaru, Kongmaru-la, Langtang Chu, Sorra, Dat, Yar-la, Lungmo Che, Lun, Marangla, Takh, Baralacha-la and
Darsha. |
Day 1: Hemis - Shang Sumdo (about 3 hours)
Today you will start trekking from
Hemis to Shang Sumdo. From Hemis, you will go down towards Martsellang, then follow a track suitable for vehicles. Later, you will go up the valley, which is fairly narrow in places, and walk along the riverbed as far as Shang Sumdo. In Shang Sumdo, have an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 2: Shang Sumdo - Latza Kongmaru (about 7 hours)
Today you will start trekking from Shang Sumdo to Latza Kongmaru. From Shang Sumdo, take a path along the slope through red rock and walk back down to the riverbeds. Later, the track will lead to gorges. Leave the gorge and go up into the pass. Overnight stay in the camp in Latza Kongmaru.
Day
3: Latza Kongmaru - Kongmaru-la - Langtang Chu (about 7 hours)
In the morning from Latza Kongmaru, steep ascent as far as the Kongmaru-la pass. From the pass, you can have the beautiful view of the northern face of the Kang Yaze. After reaching the pass, you have an easy descent to the summer pastures of Nimaling, one of the most beautiful high valleys in
Ladakh. At Nimaling, pass the ridge and go down into a beautiful small valley, then cross a second ridge and go along the rocky northwest slope on the Kang Yaze as far as the
Langtang Chu flows.
Day 4: Langtang-chu - Sorra (about 8 hours)
Today you will trek from Langtang-chu to Sorra. On the way you will cross a large stream and a morainic wall and trek further until the valley divides. When the valley divides, then take the right-hand valley as far as the top of the
Zalung Karpo-la. From the top, go down a ridge towards a second pass then go down a steep rocky slope as far as a beautiful valley curves slightly to the left. In the evening reach Sorra and have a camp.
Day 5: Sorra - Dat (about 5 hours)
Today you will cross the Sorra Chu and go up to the Dat Chu. These two rivers make up the Chang Chu which flows into the
Zanskar River. Further on, leave a valley on the right to go into a narrow traverse valley. The valley widens again. On the way, pass several manis and chortens and the valley becomes very broad. In the evening arrive in Dat, a village inhabited throughout the year.
Day 6: Dat - Yar-la - Lungmo Che (about 6 hours)
Today you will trek towards the Dango village. Here, you will follow the tracks without difficulty and go into the third valley on the left. From there, you have to climb a bit higher to Yar-la. You will be able to found the water at the foot of the Yar-la. From Yar-la, you will have short and easy climb to the pass and have fantastic view of the
Rupshu. Later, have an easy descent for 2 hours to the summer village of Lungmo Che.
Day 7: Lungmo Che - Lun (about 6 hours)
Today you will have trek from Lungmo Che and go down along the river, Right Bank. From the Right Bank, you will go to a very large north-south valley where the Zara Chu flows. Follow this valley and pass the small village of Sangtha with not much waters and grasses. Follow the same valley, towards south as far as Yakbu. Yakbu is a wonderful campsite with several low stone walls. Tibetan nomads live in this area. Later, continue towards south. In 2 hours you will arrive in Lun, after passing a large valley, village and fields.
Day 8: Lun - Marangla - Takh (about 8 hours)
Today, you will trek from Lun, along the left bank for half an hour, then take a good path, which leaves the river up to the left. You will come to a beautiful plateau. Then, you will pass all the valleys on your left. At first, the pass is rather narrow but, soon you will find a well-kept trail with the gentle rise. Later, you will arrive at the Marang-la and have a long descent towards Takh.
Day 9 to Day 11: Takh - Baralacha-la - Darsha
In Takh you will meet the Leh-Manali military trail and follow it without difficulty. Pass
Sarchu then Serai Konjung just beyond the bridge, then cross the Baralacha-la pass. After the
Baralacha-la, you will pass
Zingzingbar, then Patseo and Darsha.
