Day 01: Delhi - Saatal
In the morning drive to Saatal. Saatal is one of the most
pleasant destination and one of the the most scattered and
deliberately undeveloped area. In the evening you will enjoy
the bird watching with a guide near the lodge. Various species
of birds such as white-crested laughing thrush,
rufous-gorgeted flycatcher, red-billed leothrix, Siberian
rubythroat, rock bunting etc can be seen in Saatal. Overnight
stay in a hotel.
Day 02: Saatal - Pangot
In the morning enjoy the birding in and around Saatal. Here
you will view various birds like Rufous-chinned and white
crested laughing thrush, rufous-breasted accentor, greater
yellow-naped flameback, speckled piculet etc. Later in the
afternoon drive to Pangot. On the route you can look for
various birds like blue whistling thrush, red-billed blue
magpie, blue-capped redstart and white capped water redstart.
Overnight stay at the Lodge with dinner.
Day 03: Pangot
Today you will enjoy the whole day bird watching at Pangot.
You will view various birds in Pangot like Slaty-headed and
red-breasted parakeet, Grey bush Chat, long-tailed and
grey-backed shrike, Common kestrel, Besra, Chestnut-bellied
rock thrush etc. Streaked laughing thrush is a common garden
bird here. Overnight stay in a lodge with all the meals.
Day 04: Pangot
Today you will enjoy the whole day bird watching at Pangot.
Day 05: Pangot
In the early morning you will drive to Cheena Peak, which at
2610 meters offers views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks
including Nanda Devi. In Pangot, a very good birding area is
at the quiet old road through oak and rhododendron forests.
This place is alive with various birds like grey-headed canary
flycatcher, white-throated laughing thrush, grey-winged
blackbird, green-backed tit, hill barbet, grey-headed
woodpecker, black-chinned babbler, black-headed and maroon
oriole.
Day 06: Pangot - Ranikhet
In the morning after having breakfast you will drive to
Ranikhet through the Himalayan roads. On the way you can stop
and watch the birds like Sunbirds, Sultan Tit, Scaly breasted
Wren-babbler, Black Bulbul, Black-capped Sibia, Black Eagle,
King Vulture, and Blue throated Barbet etc. Arrive in Ranikhet
by the evening and stay in the hotel with all the meals.
Day 07: Ranikhet - Corbett National Park
In the morning you will drive to the Corbett National Park. It
is the India's first National Park, and designated a Project
Tiger Reserve in the year 1973. In 1957 it was renamed as
Corbett National Park in honour of the late Jim Corbett, the
legendary photographer and author. Around 50 species of
mammals, 25 reptiles, 110 species of trees and 580 species of
resident and migratory birds have been recorded in and around
the reserve. In the evening view various birds like Great pied
hornbill, Pallas fishing eagle, Grey-headed fishing eagle,
Red-thighed Falconet, Tawny Fish Owl, Great Hornbill,
Scaly-bellied Woodpecker, Red-breasted Parakeet, Himalayan
Swiftlet, Stork-billed Kingfisher and Himalayan Rubythroat.
Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 08: Corbett National Park
In the early morning drive to Dhikala tourism zone. In the
afternoon arrive at the main tourist complex. In the evening
visit the grasslands and view various birds like long-tailed
nightjar, jungle owlet, spot-bellied owl, common stonechat,
black francolin, purple and crimson sunbird, golden-fronted &
orange-bellied leaf bird, black-shouldered kite and hen
harrier. Along the Ramganga River we view various water birds
in the lower jungles like river lapwings, waders, mergansers
and other waterfowl.
Day 09: Corbett National Park
In the early morning you will have a safari in the Corbett
National Park. You will view various animals like Tigers,
Leopards, Sambars, Chital, Hog Deer, Porcupine, Wild Pigs and
Fox. Later you will drive to the hotel and en route stop for
birding. Some of the best birding areas of Dhikala are Sambhar
Road and Khinanauli. Here we will view Great slaty woodpecker,
Great hornbill, Puff-throated babbler, White-rumped shama,
Pallas fish eagle etc. In the night arrive at the hotel for
dinner and have an overnight stay.
Day 10: Corbett National Park - Delhi
Today you will explore the river edge at Kumeria and view
various birds like Tawny and brown fish owl, Asian barred
owlet, plumbeous redstart, brown dipper, forktails, Crested
tree swift, spangled drongo, blue bearded bee-eater etc. After
visiting the river drive back to Delhi. In the evening arrive
in Delhi.
