Birds in the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
Some migratory birds migrate during the winter from across the
world in the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary including the Siberian
stork. The migratory birds which visit the sanctuary are
Siberian Cranes, Egrets, Darters, Herons, Parrots, Larks,
Flycatchers, Wood Beetles and Teals. Some local birds which
are found at this sanctuary are Water fowls, Cuckoos, Owls,
Egrets, Herons, Teals, Water ducks, Kingfishers, Golden-Backed
Woodpeckers and paradise Fly-catchers.
Best Time To Visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
The best time to visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is between
June and August. If you want to view the migratory birds then
the best time is from November to February. A cruise along the
Vembanad lake is the best way to visit the sanctuary.
