Ladakh Sikkim
and Bhutan Tour is an ideal tour to visit Ladakh, Sikkim and Bhutan. In the first part of this Tour we
visit Leh and Delhi. In Delhi, we will visit Rajghat, Jama
Masjid, Humayun Tomb and Qutub Minar. In Leh, we will visit
Leh monastery, Thikse, Shey, Hemis and Lamayuru monastery. In the second part of
our tour we visit Sikkim. In the third part of the tour we
visit Bhutan. Bhutan is an extraordinary place hardly touched
by the hands of time. Nestling in the heart of the great
Himalaya, Bhutan remained in self-imposed isolation for
centuries. |

Day 1: Delhi
Around midnight arrival in
New Delhi. The cosmopolitan city and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travellers. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day
2: Delhi
In the morning have sightseeing in Old Delhi. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat", the site where
Mahatma Gandhi was cremated,
Jama Masjid and the great mosque of old Delhi. Today we also visit the famous "Humayun's Tomb" which is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in
India and "Qutub Minar". Before we proceed to the hotel we drive through New Delhi where we will visit the
India Gate, Government buildings and Embassies.

3: Delhi - Leh (by air)
In the morning transfer to the airport for the flight to
Leh. Later, a short flight
will bring us to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Due to its altitude (3500 m.) Ladakh is also known as the roof of the world. Leh was an important place in the historical times on the silk road to central Asia. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize yourself to the high altitude of Leh. In evening you will
visit Leh Bazaar and Leh monastery. |

4: Leh
Today we start our excursion by visiting the monastery of
Thikse. Thikse is one of the most imposing monastery in Ladakh. The monastery has 12 stories, 10 temples, a nunnery and 60 lamas in residence. It contains numerous stupas, statues, tankhas, wall painting and a large pillar engraved with the teaching of Buddha. We can also see here a collection of Tibetan scripts. After the visit of Thikse we visit the village of Shey on the eastern bank of the Indus. Shey was the royal residence and was located at an important vantage point in the
Indus valley. It has a large victory stupa which is topped with gold. After the visit of the monastery of Shey we visit the monastery of Hemis. The rich monastery of Hemis is the biggest in Ladakh and is perched on top of a pleasant green hill surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

5: Leh
Today we start our excursion by visiting the Lamayuru Monastery. This monastery is situated at the altitude of 3800 meters between Fotu-la and
Khalsi. As per the legend, in ancient times a lake covered this site. This monastery is noted for the sect "Drigungpa". In the gallery one will be able to see 35 Buddhas painted on the wall. Then we drive to the small village known as Stok. The attraction of Stok remains the palace of Stok which is 200 years old. The palace and museum at Stok is a showpiece for the royal tankhas, royal crown, dresses, coins, precious stones and turquoise head dresses.

6: Leh - Delhi (by air)
After having the
breakfast we drive to the airport to board flight for Delhi.

7: Delhi - Bagdogra (by air) - Darjeeling
In the morning we drive to the airport for the flight to
Bagdogra. After the arrival in Bagdogra
we proceed north of the state through the coniferous forests and
terraced tea gardens to Darjeeling. Darjeeling (place of the
thunderbolt) has spectacular scenery. Due to its altitude of 2134 m
and soothing temperature in summers Darjeeling has become a famous
hill resort in India. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the
hotel in Darjeeling. In the evening enjoy the beautiful surroundings
at Darjeeling.

8: Darjeeling
In the morning, we will have train ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom
monastery. In the afternoon we explore
Darjeeling and its
surroundings. We visit the village Lablong and the institute of
mountaineering where we get the detailed information about the
natural surrounding and its habitants of this area.

9: Darjeeling - Pemayangtse (Pelling)
Very early in the morning we drive to Tiger Hill (around 11 km) to enjoy the sunrise. Tiger Hill (2590 m) is the highest point in this area. There is a breathtaking view of the sunrise on the
Kanchenjunga mountains.
Mount Everest (8842 m) is also visible on a clear day. The moments of sunrise from Tiger Hill are described by most of the visitors as unforgettable. After viewing the Tiger Hill we
drive to the hotel and have breakfast. After having breakfast we drive
to Pemayangtse.

10: Pemayangtse -
Gangtok
In the morning visit Pemanyangtse Monastery
and
Rabdantse Ruins and
later drive to Gangtok.

11: Gangtok
Today we have full day sightseeing. In Gangtok,
we will visit the Rumtek Monastery, Tibetology Institute, Enchey Monastery and
Bazaar. After having sightseeing in Gangtok, drive back to
Martam. The
Enchey
monastery is believed to be 200
years old. The monks of this monastery belong to the Mahayana
Buddhism. The unique
Research Institute of Tibetology is
situated on a hilltop which was established in 1958 to promote research on
Tibet and
Mahayana Buddhism. Here we will see the biggest collection of
Tibetan scripts and an excellent collection of rare Tankhas, bronze
and cult objects.

12: Gangtok - Kalimpong
Today we drive from Gangtok to Kalimpong. Kalimpong, a remote hill station has been a meeting point of the once "three closed lands" on the trade route to Tibet. The beautiful mountain scenery and the abundance of flowers have made Kalimpong
an attractive resort. |

Day 13: Kalimpong -
Phuntsholing
Today we will drive from
Kalimpong to Phuntsholing. The rest of the day
at leisure at the hotel.
Day 14: Phuntsholing -
Thimphu
Today we will drive from Phuntsholing
to Thimphu. The rest of the day
at leisure at the hotel.
Day 15:
Thimphu
At 7,710 feet in the fertile valley of the
Wang chu river, the capital Thimphu is an engaging blend of the old and the new. The capital's most striking visual landmark is the magnificent Taschichho-Dzong, which is the seat of the Royal Government and Central Monastic Body. We visit today the national library to see the collection of rare and precious collection of
Buddhism. Today we also visit a painting school and the
center of the traditional medicines. In the evening we visit the Taschichho-Dzong
and Memorial Chorten. |

Day 16: Thimphu - Paro
Today we drive from
Thimphu to Paro.
Day 17: Paro
Today we start our day by visiting the National Museum. After the visit of the National museum we go for an excursion to Takstang
monastery. In April 1998 a fire destroyed the main structure of
Tatiana Monastery, perhaps Bhutan's most photographed and famous site, perched on the side of a cliff 900m (2952ft) above the valley floor. It is also known as 'tiger's nest' because
Guru Rinpoche
is said to have flown to the site on the back of a tigress in the
eighth century. It has been one of the kingdom's most sacred sites
ever since, and will be rebuilt in its original style once an
auspicious date has been chosen. |

Day 18: Paro
- Delhi (by air)
After having the
breakfast we drive to the airport to board flight for Delhi.
Arrival in Delhi in the afternoon. The rest of the day at leisure.
