With very less necessities in life, the men in the village begin their day in the early morning at the fields where they are engaged in farming. Their cattle and fields are their valuable assets. They work hard during the whole day. Some of the villagers are also engaged in shoemaking for their livelihood. The shoemakers are engaged in their family business.

The traditional and comfortable footwear named is still a very preferred handicraft item for tourists. During your stay in the village, you can learn to make these good-looking and comfortable flat wears with cotton threads and leather. As we go ahead with guide along with the pathway, the next spot is the carpet weaver’s house. While visiting the carpet weaver’s loom under the shed, we easily notice the hard-to-miss, half-made carpet on the loom.

Carpet weaving is a boring and lengthy job. The weavers generally weave the carpets by listening to the Boli or the song sung like an excuse to enjoy life’s unfussiness. In the village you also have an opportunity to learn how to make these beautiful potteries  with the local Kumhar community. Potteries are made with the quick movement of the Chaak in which the clay vessels are moulded by them. This technique looks very interesting.

One of the most important means of transport which are generally used in the villages are camels, the ship of the desert. Village Tour also give you an opportunity to interact with the local women and learn about their daily household activities like lassi making, grinding of grains and cooking. So you can also learn how these villagers prepare their food and you also have an opportunity to enjoy eating with the villagers.

Narhet Village

Narhet is a tiny village in the lap of the Aravallis. Upon arrival in the village you are greeted by the host and tie a colorful saafa on your head. We visit the ruins of olden Meena architecture in the village on a camel cart and wander through the beautiful houses of the Rajputs. We view the Raigars hand-crafting the Mojaris with Rajasthani turbans on head and hookahs in their hand. Experience the art of hand-weaving of magnificent carpets, while craftsmen narrate their folk rhymes. We also have a glimpse at women making good-looking baskets which are built of kooncha grass and mulberry stems.

Eat the authentic and traditional food prepared by local women which are cooked on mud stoves and utensils and served in traditional plates and bowls. You also enjoy the traditional folk dance and music performances of the artists and  appreciate them and tap your feet at the beats of the manjiri, tanpura and dhaap. In the night we relax on charpais with traditional covers which are woven by hands.

Enjoy the early morning sunrise from the top of hill and listen to the emotional sounds of the temple bells while the Brahmin are engaged in the morning prayers. We at Rajasthan Visit welcome you to Narhet to explore the real beauty of the nature and get lost in an unknown world.
 

Activities during the Tour

Warm Welcome
A warm welcome of the guest with garlands and tikkas on the foreheads of the guests’. Aarti of guests with a diyas, incense sticks and petal of flowers in a thali which moves around the guests followed by light devotional Hindu bhajans and songs.    Locals villagers singing bhajans and songs marking the occasion favorable. At the end the flower petals are showered on the guests.

Safa Tying Custom
To provide a feel of the rural lifestyle, a safa tying ceremony is also held in which the Safas are tied at the foreheads of the guests or a chunari is used for womens. Safa is a a traditional turban for men in Rajasthan.

Folk Musical Ceremonies
During the above ceremonies, musical presentations of traditional instruments like Sarangi and Nagada are also held which implies a blessed arrival for the guest.

Camel Cart Ride
Camel cart ride is very exciting and convenient mode of transport in the village. A Peaceful and relaxing ride is provided on the back of the camel, packed with all basic requirements like a shade, staircase, shoe-rack and pillows etc. Camel ride gives an opportunity to explore the whole village while sitting on the back of the camel and pass through the scenic landscape of the beautiful village. We also view other camels which are decorated very wonderfully with various accessories, lavishly painted mud walls of the huts together with the scenic landscape. Meet the Village Womens
We meet with local womens of the village who are engaged in weaving the grass breadbaskets known as Kooncha, we also learn from them how to do this.
Meet the local Keer community who are engaged in making handmade baskets. Recognize the smart work of this grass type converted into strong and resilient natural ropes, used to make cots to sleep.

Meet the Architects of the Havelis
Meet the local architect of the village and learn about their experiences from them and how they built beautifully adorned havelis of the rich. We also view them how they are using modern techniques to built houses.

Enjoy the Desi Rasoi
You have the opportunity to sit in the peaceful environment in Desi Rasoi on the charpais and enjoy the lassi in earthen kulhads or cups which is prepared specially for you by the village womens.
We also taste various other spicy dishes prepared by the local womens and sit with them and know about their lifestyle.

Fly Kites with the Villagers
We spent leisure time with the villagers while flying colorful kites. After the kite flying we walk to visit the old shrine of Shiva in the village.

Learn about Various Art Work
We view how the local communities of the village are engaged in the making of clay pottery.
Watch the interesting journey of a mud patch changed into a magnificently molded vessel. View the Khatis making the items of food like furniture and furnishings.

Explore the Rural Villages
We also walk on the fields of the villagers with the local farmers and learn from them the manner in which they cultivate their lands. Sit on a tractor trolley and view the farming activities while sitting comfortably on the tractor. We also watch the farmers rearing their animals. We also meet the local tribes of the village and learn from them about their way of living.

Apply Mehndi on the Hands
Mehndi or henna paste with beautiful patterns are applied on your hands by the local womens.
These are applied by local womens on your hand very carefully and will last long on your skin as well as keep memories afresh.

Special Function at the end of Day
A special function is organised to enjoy the end of the day, in which the local villagers perform the folk vocal and musical performances. Along with this an Indian tea is also served to you which will refresh you.

Departure
The local musicians would give farewell to you back to Jaipur while the local womens are engaged in performing bhajans and aarti.
