Day
01: Flight to India (Mumbai)
Around Midnight arrive in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay). The cosmopolitan
City and capital of Maharashtra is the main gateway for
the travellers to India. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative
and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Mumbai
- Bangalore (by air)
In the morning we will drive to the airport for the flight
to Bangalore. Bangalore is the capital city of the Indian
state Karnataka. This former "Garden city" Bangalore
is known today as "computer city" of India. In
the afternoon we drive through the garden city with its
numerous avenues of Jacaranda, Gulmohar and Cassia. We will
visit the Bull temple, which is built in the Dravidian style
of architecture. This temple has a huge Nandi Bull carved
out of a single grey granite and famous Gowda Fort, which
was built by Tipu Sultan. We will also visit the Vidhan Sabha
and downtown commercial centre. This Vidhan Sabha, which
is built after independence, stands out by its imposing
architecture in the neo Dravidian style.
Day 03: Bangalore
- Mysore
In the morning after
having our breakfast, we will drive to Mysore via Srirangapatnam,
once the capital of Mysore. Visit fort, Tipu Sultan's palace,
Maharaja Palace and the Gombaz and Chamundi Hill to visit
Chamundeshwari temple and to see a giant Nandi (buffalo
god) and enjoy the view of the surroundings form the hilltop.
Evening at Leisure to visit the beautiful Brindavan gardens.
Day 04: Mysore
- Kabini (Nagarhole Sanctuary)
In the morning we
leave Mysore to visit Nagarhole Sanctuary. Its dense deciduous
forests are the habitat of the Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Elephant,
Sambar, Chital, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Langur and about
250 species of birds including the magnificent Malabar Pied
Hornbill and the Great Black Woodpecker. We will enjoy guided
safari of the park. Evening free for leisure.
Day 05: Kabini (Nagarhole
Sanctuary) - Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
In the morning again
we can have safari in the Nagarhole National Park and then
we leave Kabini and drive along the forest stretch to Mudumalai
wildlife sanctuary. This sanctuary is located in the Nilgiri
Hills at a height of 100 m and covers an area of 321 square
km. This sanctuary is rich in bird life and wildlife. Herds
of Elephants, Small groups of deer, Chital, Tiger, Leopards,
Sambars, Wild Dog or dhole can be seen in this sanctuary.
Day 06: Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Ooty
In the morning we will have a jeep or elephant safari in the Mudumalai
Sanctuary. From the tropical coast of Karnataka we drive
on the serpent road and pass through the Tea plantation
and eucalyptus forests on the mountains of Nilgiri and arrive
in the city Ooty (Udhagammandulam). The British established
this beautiful hill station in the early part of the 19th
century in the Nilgiris or the Blue Mountains. Ooty lies
at an altitude of 2300 m. and still has British flair. Evening
free for leisure to enjoy the lakeside or the gardens.
Day 07: Ooty
- Coonoor
Ooty (also known as
the queen of the blue mountains) is famous for its rolling
hills covered in pine and eucalyptus forests and also for
its coffee and tea plantations. In the morning we will visit
the famous and most beautiful Botanical Garden of Ooty which
covers an area over 20 hectares and is planted with more
than a thousand varieties of plants, shrubs and trees including
orchids, fern and alpine. We will drive further to visit
Dodabetta peak, the highest in the Nilgiris. In the afternoon
we will pass through the betel nut and pepper plantation
and drive to Coonoor. Rest of day at leisure to visit Sims
Park, and enjoy cool walks through tea estates. Overnight
stay in Coonoor.
Day 08: Coonoor
- Cochin
In the morning after
the breakfast, we drive to Cochin, the commercial center
of Kerala. Evening free for leisure in Cochin.
Day 09: Cochin
After having breakfast,
we will visit Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue
and also have a back - water cruise to Bolghatty Palace.
Today we will also view
Chinese fishing nets. In the evening we will view traditional
Kathakali classical dance recital. We will have an
overnight stay in Cochin.
Day 10: Cochin
- Periyar
In the morning we
will drive further to visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
We will start our day by having a Boat ride on the lake
of Periyar. The lake of Periyar is the central point of
the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. It covers an area
of 780 square km and was designated a part of project Tiger
in 1973. After the boat ride we drive through the Park and
observe the activities of Elephants, Bison, Sambar, Wild
Oxen, Wild Boar and Spotted Deer which are common here.
Day 11: Periyar
- Kovalam
In the morning we
will leave for Kovalam. Kovalam is a beautiful beach resort
located around a calm fringed bay. Evening free for leisure.
Day 12: Kovalam
- Chennai
In the morning we will drive to Chennai.
In the afternoon we will have city tour and visit the Fort
of St. George, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach and
Snake Park and the St. Mary's church. The British built
the Fort of Saint George in the 17th century. The Saint
Mary's church was the first English church in India. Rest
of the day at leisure (Opportunity for the shopping)
Day 13: Chennai
Around Midnight
flight to home destination.
